Very disappointing. The grass camping field was soft, so we parked on the path. No other campers. In the cold and grimy 'sanitaires', the Ladies was locked. Only when we asked were we told to both use the Gents. This had a row of urinals, 2 dirty toilets (one of them squat-type) and lukewarm showers. The building smelt of tobacco and mildew. There was nowhere for washing up and the outside taps and chemical WC point were turned off. ACSI Card discount did not apply after 30 September so we paid full price for these disgusting facilities. WiFi was available, though at an extra charge. A good position by the river and an easy walk into town, but no wonder that no-one else was staying. The warden was always absent (whatever the Reception hours might say) and clearly couldn't care less - 'I am not the boss' was his only response to complaints.

This has the potential to be a very good site - nice level field with access to the river. BUT the sanitary facilities left a lot to be desired. I took one look at the toilet and fled screaming to my own loo in the caravan. They still have the old French style squatting toilets (and some civilised ones, to be fair) but there was rather too much old poo hanging about for my taste. I didn't fancy the showers as they didn't look clean. My partner used the showers and he said they were only cleaned (after a fashion) once in 5 days. The chemical disposal leaked and was surrounded by a pool of effluent. Not nice!
The town was easily reached and had a couple of decent supermarkets but had nothing else to recommend it, rather shabby and dull.
All a great shame because there's a great marina and a lovely river to be enjoyed.
We wouldn't use this site again. The sanitary block needs demolishing and re-building.
