St. Nicolas is a peaceful, pretty site above the town of Bec Hellouin in Normandy. Wardens are delightful, helful people. Have stayed often and hope to do so many times more. Village within waking distance, though steep! Just S of Rouen.l

Unfortunately it was raining during our stay :( The site looked well maintained and was extremely peaceful. Very nice toilet/shower/washing up facility but take your own loo roll! No site shop for food and only 1, poorly stocked shop in the village. If staying with children you need to be aware that the 'playground' consists of a sand pit, a wendy house and one of those things on a strong spring that they sit on and rock. There is also a football pitch. The walk into the village is lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed it but, as other reviewers have said, steep in places, a bit stony for pushchairs and probably not ideal if you are at all unsteady or easily tired. That said, the village is beautiful and the sound of the abbey bells is mesmorising. If you walk through the village, past the abbey, pass a community garden on your right, play pooh sticks at the river!! Go to the far end of the road, turn right and you will find a small children's playground where you can have a picnic.

A very well kept site, spacious and level. Excellent base to explore the local area.
No wifi access. Bread can be ordered for the next day.

Heel bijzonder!
