I have just read with amazement the reviews on Chateau de Lacomte. My wife & I discovered this site 5 years ago before they changed to Adult Only (excellent decision) and have now visited it 6 times. We have always found the owners to be first rate hosts, nothing too much trouble. The site is wonderfully quiet & the pitches are a good size & fully serviced, the amenities block is always very clean, they don't supply toilet paper like most sites now. The pool is superb & the restaurant is a real delight, not what you expect on a campsite.
We would strongly recommend this site as it's one of the best.
With regard to the other reviews, I accept that everybody has an opinion, but if satellite tv is so important why go away.
We suggest that people looking for peace & quiet try it for themselves, even if only for a couple of nights, actually don't, that way it won't become overcrowded.

We stayed at Chateau de Lacomte twice last summer, the first time we booked an overnight (4th July) on our way down to The Med where we had booked 3 weeks. We liked Chateau de Lacomte and stayed 3 nights instead of 1, on our arrival we were warmly welcomed by Sheila, who is also responsable for producing the excellent food served in the restaurant. We were shown to our pitch by Stuart (Sheila & Stuart own the site) who helped us positon and unhitch our caravan, as I don't like reversing and our motormover was damaged coming off the ferry. The site is very relaxing (apart from 1 or 2 of the other guests who seem to forget that they have chosen a camping holiday and not a 5 star hotel) we swam in the beautiful pool and had dinner on the terrace. Stuart even repaired our motor mover for us, it worked perfectly ever since. All in all an excellent stay, unlike the site at the Med, we stayed 4 nights and came back to Chateau de Lacomte and I have just booked 4 week for this July

Managed to find site in middle of countryside miles from any facilities, nearest shop 9 miles away.
Shown to first pitch which sloped in every direction and asked for another which was also sloping but not as badly but very small. Owner told me all the piches were booked but whilst we were there none of them were occupied.
Very dissaponted with site as it sounded very exclusive when you look at the advertisement in the Caravan Club Magazine. The toilet block needed TLC, the showers were cold and most of the time there was no loo rolls.
There are no veiws from the site and the nearest village Carlucet only consists of a few houses and no amenities.
Would not visit the site again, and certainly would not recommend it.

We had booked for 7 nights from 6 July 2011 through the Camping and Caravan Club. Due to technical difficulties I rang the site on Monday 4 July to see if we could arrive early. Mr Coe stated that they were almost full, so I said not to worry we would go somewhere else for two days. Then a pitch became available! So we arrived and accepted the pitch allocated No. 7. It was poor no grass, but soil and stones and a big slope. the following day having fully set up, we found a large number of pitches unoccupied. These were very good covered in grass and level. The hot water at the shower and washing facilities was non existent. The washing machines were in a very poor condidtion, a charge of 5 euros.
There were at least 2 broken toilet seats for 7 days. Then to top it all a notice was displayed that as of 8 July no toilet paper would be supplied and to bring your own. This site is definitely not a 4 Star and we will not be returning. Our expectations were certainly not met.
