An easy site to find, well marked out pitches and staff were very helpful. This is an area we will return too as there was so much to see.

From 1 Sept, for ACSI users, toilets were made unisex. A large part of the grounds were closed to caravanners for a wedding, which had a disco which kept us awake until 5.00 in the morning. The last week they closed the toilets serving our area but left them unlocked and uncleaned for us when we queried this. Other people used them and washed their dog in the bathroom, leaving paw prints, toilet paper on the floor, waste bin with discarded pizzas and food containers for a week. They decided not to put others in our area and for the last week we had no others to chat with, share experiences etc. which is part of the holiday. The Restaurant, take away, bar, shop etc all closed. Only small pool open. Wifi only available within 3 metres of closed bar, not good for autumn weather. They acknowledged that they had let us down and reduced our charge, but we would rather have had four star facilities than a miserable one star they provided. We feel that they discriminate against ACSI users.

Very disappointed with this site and would certainly not rate it as 4 star. There were no serviced sites and the electricity plug was so far away our very long lead only just reached. The water taps were contained in small brick built structures which would only just hold our water carrier, in addition it had a one brick high lip so the full water carrier had to be lifted over it. Although dogs are allowed at this site it is not 'dog friendly'. The only place to walk them was off site and not very nice at all. They were not allowed in the bar, and there were no tables outside to sit at. The bar was badly stocked which would be understandable later on in the season but not mid September. Likewise the takeaway menu, all that was left was pizza or sausages and chips. On our last day we were due to leave at 8 am. Having pre ordered our bread, I asked when the bread would be available and was told 8 am, it hadn't arrived by 8.10am when we left. We didn't use the pool so cant comment.

A quite busy and large campsite which obviously caters for families and children in a comprehensive way. Having said this, this didn't reduce our enjoyment of satying at Drancourt. The staff were superb and made our stay very nice as we had a minor vehicle problem at the time which they did all they could to help. But it was disappointing that they had closed down one toilet block for end of season even though camping numbers where still quite high. These over-work facilities just weren't kept clean enough and up to expectations for a Les Castels site.
