Mooi gelegen camping (aan de Illmenau en in het bos), fietsroute naar de dichtbij gelegen mooie stad, die zijn welvaart dankt aan de zoutwinning vanaf de Middeleeuwen. Interessant: zoutmuseum, zoutkraan en het oude raadhuis. Dichtbij zijn grote uitvalswegen, dus ook ideaal voor uitstapjes in de omgeving, de heide, andere leuke stadjes (Uelzen met zijn Hundertwasser station), de oude zoutroute, Hamburg, Lubeck etcetera. Zeer vriendelijke beheerder, eenvoudig, maar gezellig restaurant/café op de camping en restaurant in forstershuis aan de overkant. Boottochten op de Illmenau, kanovaren (ook verhuur) en op de camping een kleine zwemvijver met strandje voor de kinderen + visvijver. Kindvriendelijk en diervriendelijk, er is zelfs een vogelhuisje in de vorm van een caravan waar mezen nestelen. Honden kunnen zo vanaf de camping het bos in en ernaast ligt een manège voor de paardrijders. Kortom voor elk wat wils. We waren hier al twee keer en zullen zeker weer terugkomen (bijv. leuke stop op doorreis)

Kampeerplaatsen op open veld. Vriendelijk, wat gedateerd geheel. Het gedateerde (wel schone) sanitair zou worden vernieuwd. Slechts 1 watertappunt vooraan bij de ingang...
Zeer beperkte onbetrouwbare busverbinding naar Lüneburg.
