Travelling party: Family with children between the ages of 12 and 18
Travel period: April 2011
We travelled to this campsite on 26th April 2011. On arrival there was no staff or office and a camper told us you just pitch your tent and man comes round in the evening to collect money! We started pitching the tent and 3 boys with sticks were hitting a landrover car and trying to break the windscreen and mirrors! They then opened a tent and urinated in it. Then they pulled the pegs out of a nearby tent and pulled the poles out! I shouted at them but my husband advised me not to bother because the adults in the caravan park were watching the boys and he thought they would start on us. They were Travellers and they watched the boys wrecking other peoples property and did nothing. I am glad we witnessed this destruction before we had fully pitched the tents so we just packed up and went to find another campsite with wardens and standards!! This is an issue the forestry service needs to deal with as people cannot enjoy the beautiful suroundings without feeling intimidated.
