Campsite Playa Tropicana

Stayed 2 weeks in October. We would have stayed longer but had to be further south. Friendly staff easy going atmosphere good size pitches interesting bike ride to nice little town, beach not up to much. Natural park nearby is really interesting and some good little coves, naturist!!. Challenging mountain biking across park to Penisicola.

Camping Tropicana is echt geweldig!! Wij hebben een heerlijke tijd gehad (4 weken). Prachtig mooi zwembad, met mooie palmbomen en ligbedden bij het bad. Ook is er een ruim gesorteerde supermarkt op de camping, met behulpzaam en vriendelijk personeel. De plaatsen zijn ruim en het afval wordt ter plekke opgehaald. Jammer dat het dorp met gezellige boulevard wat ver weg ligt, 4 km. De weg is slecht verlicht 's avonds. Het eten in het restaurant op de camping was matig, pizza wel lekker.

We chose this site because it allowed dogs, however on arrival we were faced with a No Dog sign. On further examination we discovered that dogs were confined to about 14 pitches near to the gate. Since people without dogs were also using these pitches it would seem that it could be difficult to secure a dog allocated pitch during busy periods. The pitch we chose was large and ideal for us. The only problem was the fact that it was close to reception and the Mynah bird that lived there. This would start to chirp and sing, quite loudly as soon as the sun came up, not too bad at 7am in April but not sure how popular it would be in the summer months when the sun rises at 4am!
The showers and sanitary facilities were very good. The prices at the camp supermarket were generally reasonable; so to was the food and drinks at the nearby bar/ restaurant. Unfortunately the main swimming pool was being renovated and didn’t open in time for easter. The beach is just across the road. The internet was expensive , connection was slow although when I discussed this with reception I was told that everyone else had a good connection but that a technician would come out in the next hour……..nobody came. Over Easter the site became quite full and again we were unfortunate to have two inconsiderate Spanish families sharing a pitch close to ours. These people would tie there dog to a tree on the pitch and go out for the day, usually returning around midnight, on one occasion they returned at that time and started to have a bbq. Whilst they were away their dog would be howling and barking constantly. This was all in front of the reception area approximately 30 yards away. Would I go back here again? Probably as sometimes a visit can just be a mixture of a series of unfortunate events and I take some reassurance from the fact that many Brits on a winter rally really liked the site.

De camping is erg ver van het dorp verwijderd. Als je van "Griekse" beelden houdt kan je je hart ophalen, de camping staat er vol mee!
Goede sanitaire voorzieningen, uitstekende campingwinkel, vriendelijk personeel. Er werd aan een nieuw zwembad gewerkt toen wij er waren (half maart).
Onder het in de CC-gids genoemde "zeer fijne zandstrand" verstaan wij toch wel iets anders dan het strand met grof grind dat voor de camping ligt.
Na een nacht hevige regen konden wij 's morgens niet via de standweg terug omdat die voor een groot deel onder water stond.
We moesten met de camper binnendoor, over slechte en smalle landweggetjes vol keien, wat ons een klapband opleverde.
