We (family with 5 children, aged 5-17) stayed at this very well-kept quiet campsite for a week. Fantastic pool area, great pitches with a lot of privacy. Toilet building absolutely clean at all times. Very helpful staff. We will definitely return.

Just come back from 12 nights at this site. We booked through Caravan Club and got excellent pitches. Pitches were flat, well kept and very large. Site was quiet but very friendly. Staff were excellent. Can't understand what the issues are (other peoples comments) with the owners as they were great. The surroundings are beautiful. Fishing is really good in the campsite lake which is vast. Montlucon worth a visit. This is not a "blingy" site but a relaxing, spacious, well kept and lovely site. If you want bling with full-on entertainment then don't go!! All in all a great holiday destination.

Prachtig gelegen in een rustige omgeving.
Twee nationale wandelroute (GR) in de omgeving.
Super schoon.
In het naseizoen veel voor weinig.
Attent personeel en leiding.

We stayed at the castel site that our friends booked, called le chateau de poinsouze. We will never go back and would not recommend it.
Reasons
Attitude of the staff was very poor, obnoxious and unfriendly...felt like we were an inconvenience, attitude typified by two things; firstly ' we take a deposit for everything' ie. Youre not to be trusted and secondly general unhelpful attitude.
For us very unhelpful, when we had to leave leave early as an elderly relative was taken extremely poorly, we had to argue to get even our fridge hire fee back, and were told we should have cancellation policy out...we werent cancelling, just desperate to get back for relative, having said that we were glad to go.
Overall impression is that the site is run purely for profit and blatently so and not for enjoyment etc.
Restaurant meals all have to be pre ordered and you cant buy bread at the very small shop you have to pre order it the day before and pay for it.
Also we were told the water was drinkable....definately not so, all of our party felt very queasy and took ill ( we ate different things so knew it was water) once we used bottled water even for teeth cleaning we felt beter after 24 hours.

We also noticed when we had stayed on other sites in the Castel group that people returned year after year...here there was none of that.

On a positive the toilets blocks were clean but water comng out was brown!

Very little to do in the region as its the poorest in france, the local chateau charges 10 euro for a tour of a very odd collection of antiques...

There is a gorgeous little tea shop though next to the chateau well worth a visit.

Stayed in a mobile home for a week in late July. Bad mistake. Rudest people I have ever met. Nothing to do in the area for kids. My lasting memory of this place is the incdredible bad manners of the owners. It was our misfortune to have crossed paths with them. If it was free I would never return.

This place is run like a concentration camp. The owners are farmers trying their hand at tourism. They are te rudest people i have had the misfortune of meeting. Holidays with children are sacred and i regret crossing paths with these rude ignorant people.

We didn't book a pitch just called intended to stay 15 nights but only stayed for 3 instead, we knew the site was slightly sloping but most of the pitches were sloping and needed to use stackpads on legs to level up. the place was deserted averaged about 24 pitches being used and dotted all over the site. Only real time you spoke to anybody was when someone walked past or over at the toilets/washing area.Toilet facilites were spotlessly clean at all times. Fishing wasn't that good unless you are a carper and have all the gear . Way out in countryside area very quiet. Nearest big town 35 kms away. there is a small carrefour about 10mins away.

This is a charming place run by very miserable people. The standards are high, but the atmosphere is like school.

Very relaxing site in huge grounds with safe bike tracks for younger children (around lake and in woods). Kids club ran 3 well organised 1.5 hour sessions per day. As already noted pool was on the cold side for a heated pool, but when the mercury pushes 40 who cares? Water park for smaller children is great. Although we didn't camp this year (stayed in a mobile home) the pitches looked larger than average and generally level. Children's play area could do with a bit of an upgrade. Takeaway covered all the usuals (apart from pizza). The wider area is typical rural France - you'll be hard pressed to find somewhere to spend an afternoon, let alone a day with young children once you leave the site. Nearby Boussac has all you need including Carrefour and pizzas to take away.
