Quite disappointing, for several reasons. First, they kept my ID card for the entire duration of the stay. Then, due to poor internal communications (the owner asked his daughter to tell her mother to show me the spot...) they assigned me the wrong spot and asked me to move once my tent was almost mounted. Toilets and showers are in the same room (I have never seen that, it\'s nasty to have a shower while smelling other people.. ehm.. bad smells), they\'re cleaned only once a day and some toilets are even \"convertible\" in showers, by putting a wooden slab over the squat toilet.. not very nice. Most of the caravans are never moving, privately owned, and surrounded by fixed wooden structures that make the caravans almost disappear. Most of the visitors know each others, it looks more like a village than a camping. Very few shadowed areas, the trees in the camping are really young. Poor swimming pool (small and raised). No pic nic or barbeque areas, no wooden tables under the trees, only the bar, a ping pong table and a children playground. The POS was out of service and I had to pay cash.
The only pros are the quality of the terrain (made of grass, clean and soft), the view from the bar and the kindness of the owner\'s wife, gentle and welcoming.
Blink and you\'ll miss the turn off for this site. Front gate easy to find and reception lady very nice and would get 4 star. More on this later.
The site is terraced and the part we stayed is on the same level as the toilet block and reception. There was a higher level so the people there have to walk down a set of concrete stairs or road path. The site has many old caravans that have a wooden shanty built up around the caravan. These are in various states of repair and maybe family holdings. But it does look like a shanty town. The toilet block is archaic. It is clean but some cubicles had no toilet paper. There are two normal showers and two toilet cubicles in the men\'s side. The rest are old fashioned squat and drop toilets and combined shower. Ghastly! You shower where you s###!
There is no limit on the hot water and the washing up/laundry room is better but in 2015 the toilet block is a museum piece!!
The pitch was small and only 2 metres off the track so cars pass close by which can be unnerving. The pitch we were given had a caravan/hut with a noisy family and crying baby. But other ones were quiet. It wasn\'t a pretty site, functional, with room for a two man tent and car. Behind were hut/caravans and terracing. In front trees and a wire fence with a concrete base. You couldn\'t see the mountains from the pitch.
It did rain but hey it\'s the mountains so expected. We pitched up a tarpaulin and strung it from the fence and two trees. This seemed to provoke the owners as they kept taking it down. Happy for us to get wet but not happy for us to use our kit and stay dry. There was no damage to the trees or likelihood of damage. Being in a tent and waking up,hearing someone fiddle about with your equipment was not good. Overall I would not recommend this site to friends or family. In an emergency maybe it\'s good for one night but in reality is tired and overdue a lot of renovation.
Do not approach this site from the west as the Aprica pass is narrow and in poor condition. Much better to approach from the south and east. However having struggled to get there we were rewarded with a camping set in outstandingly beautiful scenery. Lacks entertainment for children or a restaurant although their are many nearby. A site for seniors who enjoy relaxing in quiet picturesque surroundings
