In the province of Alessandria, in the North Italian Piëmont region, you will find Piccolo Camping E Maieu (also referred to as Emaieu). It is a small-scale nature campsite, quietly situated, even a tad in the middle of nowhere. You can really unwind in the green, hilly surrounds or on the other hand indulge yourself in all kinds of sports activities. You are in the Tortonese region, where the foothills of the Ligurian Apennines dominate the landscape.

Camping in nature

E Maieu is a terraced campsite situated amidst nature in the hilly countryside, within walking distance of the village of Garbagna. Small-scale is the key word which describes this quiet campsite. Nice to know: the owner, Fausto Moressa, is also the postman. E Maieu is predominantly a campsite for campers with tents. There are spacious and less spacious pitches. There are also a few apartments available for rent, suitable for up to two persons. E Maieu has good sanitary facilities, both in the main building and lower down on the campsite.

Remarkably, some 90% of the guests are Dutch and Belgian, usually seekers of peace and quiet and nature lovers. There is not a lot of choice in terms of amenities. However, there is a small swimming pool (for a fee). You can go to Garbagna for a meal or for shopping.

Heading out

The area is eminently suitable for sporty activities. From the campsite you can take lovely hiking and cycling trips. You can already find some interesting routes from the camping website. Nice for cycling fans: in the village of Castellania, only 6 km from the campsite, you will find the birth house (now a museum) of the legendary cycling champion Fausto Coppi.

Travelling party: Seniors

Verblijf was voor een nacht. Prijs kwaliteit redelijk. Sanitair onder de maat. Vies. Afwas gelegenheid mag zonder smoezelige gordijnen. Niet voor herhaling en zeker geen ASCI camping.

Travelling party: Family with children, 4 – 12 years

Vriendelijk personeel dat graag met je meedenkt. Wij hebben een reguliere vouwwagen en die paste niet op de aangewezen plekken. Het blijkt echter een doortrekcamping, mensen verblijven 1 tot 4 nachten dus er was snel een grotere plek beschikbaar waar de vouwwagen wel paste. Geen wc papier en kleine douches van 1 bij 1.
Prima en schoon zwembad.
Stijl landschap. Flink klimmen voor het toiletgebouw.

Kleine terrascamping met erg kleine plekken. Na regen erg modderig terrein. Toen wij er waren was alleen het heren toiletgebouw deel in bedrijf. Sanitair is schoon maar zeer verouderd en gebrekkig. Zwembad ziet er goed uit. Vriendelijke eigenaar. Erg rustige camping

Op doorreis gestaan maar daarvoor te ver van de snelweg. De weg ernaar toe rijdt absoluut niet vlot. Camping midden in de natuur (heuvels, bos) met zeer kleine plaatsen. Na regenval erg modderig. sanitair onder de maat. Zeer verouderd en dames deel was afgesloten. Een nieuw klein gebouwtje was er al wel, maar niet bereikbaar vanwege de modder. Vriendelijk personeel die goed engels spreken. Mooi zwembad met terras.

Als je van vrij kamperen houdt is dit een prima camping. Er is geen enige luxe aanwezig, behoudens schone sanitair ruimtes. De sanitair ruimtes welke waren geopend, vanwege de beperkte drukte in het voorseizoen, waren netjes, opgeruimd en schoon. Je dient alleen voor je eigen toiletpapier zorgen. Er is een kleine zwembad aanwezig, die tijdens ons bezoek ook schoon en zuiver was. De eigenaar spreekt goed Engels is is uitermate vriendelijk. In het dorp (op loop afstand) is een kleine dorpswinkel aanwezig met de meest noodzakelijke spullen. Voor een ruime supermarkt dien je enkele dorpen verderop te zijn. In het dorp zijn wel meerdere typisch Italiaanse horeca gelegenheden. Is een aanrader om eens te proberen. Het dorp is klein maar de moeite waard om doorheen te wandelen.

Een camping die niet biedt wat je op basis van de reviews zou verwachten. Hoog seizoen, lawaaiig - de eigenaar is dagelijks met een grondverzet-machine bezig, slecht sanitair deels niet in gebruik en zeker niet schoon op de hoeveelheid gebruikers in het hoog seizoen. Blaffende honden maken het ‘s nachts erg onrustig. M.a.w geen aanrader in Augustus.

Leuke camping, met verschillende soorten plekken: sommigen met veel privacy, andere minder. Vriendelijke eigenaar; de beheerder spreekt prima Engels. Prachtige omgeving, weinig toeristisch en prima om tot rust te komen.

10 en 11 mei 2022. Hele knusse camping. Beheerder spreekt perfect Engels. Vroeg in het seizoen, zwembad nog niet klaar. Kleine plekken, sommige schaduw, sommige zon. Sanitair oud naar schoon. Zalige camping om volledig tot rust te komen.
