La Garangeoire castle campsite is a large, friendly campsite close to the Atlantic Ocean. The campsite near St. Julien des Landes has something to offer just about every camper, from horse riding to diving lessons and canoeing to massage. Camp on a spacious camping pitch or in one of the many accommodation units on the expansive site.

A rustic scene

La Garangeoire castle campsite is located at the heart of the French countryside and just 15 kilometres from the Atlantic coast. You can have your feet in the sand or dip your toe in the ocean within twenty minutes (by car), or for fun in the water closer to home, why not check out one of the many lakes that surround the campsite, such as Lac du Jaunay?

As you drive along the long driveway to the campsite, you will see the castle in the distance — through the trees. The grounds contain the castle and its extensive estate of mature forest, grass fields and sandy paths. It's a rustic scene. The site accommodates spacious camping pitches and a variety of accommodation types.

A little charm

The campsite is popular with all manner of holidaymakers, from young families with small children to older children and couples looking to enjoy the countryside. This varied campsite is full of charm and offers something for everyone.

The campsite has a large heated outdoor swimming pool with slides and toddlers' pool plus a heated indoor swimming pool. Diving lessons are arranged in the swimming pools. The campsite also boats a natural swimming pool with sandy beach, plus a lake on the northern edge, which is suitable for fishing and canoeing.

Travelling party: Young couple

Liked - All the staff go above and beyond to make a perfect stay.
Great swimming pools
Loads of activities for everyone we especially like Nordic walking, archery, cheese and wine evening, Pilates, aqua fitness and wine tasting in the chateau.
Disliked - We can't think of any improvements

Liked - We had an amazing break! The site is beautiful and very peaceful. Every member of staff was very friendly and helpful and clearly enjoyed working at La Garangeoire. We have holidayed at a large number of 5* campsites in France over the years this is one of, if not the best we have had the pleasure of staying at.

Liked - Fabulous site with a good balance of activities, spacious pitches, nice bar and restaurant, and great pool area. We liked the sunbed music idea at busy times to shake out the sunbed hoggers! Great idea to have specific kids club activities like football etc, rather than just a generic kids club.
Disliked - Having stayed at other sites, tennis was expensive at €8.50 an hour usually €5 or free with booking, so we missed out on tennis. The snack bar is good, but 2 portions of grand frites €8, didn't even fill a small bowl of ours, massively overpriced or you need a bigger measure! Not sure you need a deposit for the pedalos, other sites don't.

Liked - Clean facilities, friendly staff, great restaurant and good take away too.
Disliked - Lots of pigeons that leave a mess on car/ caravan/ awnings.
Fishing lakes need overgrown bushes/ brambles trimming back and fish in lake one need feeding. (Caught many fish but they were all under weight, regular feeding would benefit the fish and encourage more anglers.

Liked - - Really loved our Safari Lodge
- Arrival and departure very slick
- Archery with Fabrice excellent
- Great pools and slides
- All staff really helpful, particularly Emma
Disliked - - Daily beginner's French lessons for adults and children
- Bring back the scuba try dive for children

Liked - Loved the atmosphere, the helpful friendly staff and the activities and facilities.
Disliked - Taos accommodation could be better equipped. No good sharp kitchen knives or large drinking glasses. The bar should have a good selection of wines, not just the basic red, white and rose choices. This is France and we like good French wine selections. Also, the small bar kept closing early, 9.30 or 9.40 pm every evening. You could sell good wines here and stay open to 11.

Liked - This was our 4th time back at Garangeoire, & we are never disappointed. Our boys love all the activities on site & those close by in Grand Defi. I enjoy the spa treatments on site & my husband gets to enjoy a stress free holiday.

Liked - Excellent camp site - perfect facilities, always clean, staff deserve special mention- I’ve never stayed anywhere where the staff were so universally friendly, helpful and good at their jobs. Lots to do without being overwhelming. Despite it being a large site it never felt too busy or crowded. Lots of covered areas, for bad weather or in our case very hot weather. Can’t fault it.
