The Gaalgebierg campsite is located in a quiet forested area on a hill near the former industrial town of Esch-sur-Alzette. The campsite is well maintained and is wonderfully quiet and green. Directly next door there is a zoo (free access) and there are numerous sports fields and city gardens in the immediate vicinity. Esch-sur-Alzette is located in the "Terre Rouge" region, an area of former mines and heavy industry. There are lovely walks in the surrounding area.

Quiet and green
The campsite looks wonderfully quiet and green. There are beautiful trees. The grounds are divided into terraces, which creates a nice atmosphere. Some pitches are a little small or are somewhat hidden away, but there are also plenty of spacious sites.
Immaculate sanitation facilities
The large central sanitation block is immaculately clean. The building is well maintained and heated. You will also find a baby care site and facilities for wheelchair users.
Guided hikes
Because of its location, the campsite is popular with hikers and peace-seekers. The bus near the campsite will take you (every 30 minutes) to the town swimming pool for free. At certain times, the campsite team organizes excursions and guided hikes.
Charming café
There is a charming café with terrace on the campsite. There is also a restaurant with a reasonable menu. People from outside the campsite like to come to the bar and restaurant. You have to go to the centre of Esch-sur-Alzette for shops and a supermarket.
