A vigorous walk through the mountains, woods, or heathland. Or a short leisurely stroll along a river in the morning or evening. Walking is one of the most popular holiday activities. And camping and walking of course are the perfect combination. <\/strong><\/p>\n

During a camping holiday, you’re outside more often, and you can experience nature much more mindfully than you do at home. In the morning you can walk through the refreshing morning dew, in the afternoon you’ll feel the sun on your shoulders, and in the evening you can enjoy the tranquil atmosphere during a walk.<\/p>\n

Many campsites are in excellent areas for walking. Quite often, you’ll be able to join a marked path directly from the campsite<\/a>. The reception can usually tell you everything you need to know about beautiful walks in the area. And have you seen your camping neighbours’ walking boots outside their tent? Then go and ask them for information about the best local walks. And in the evening you can exchange stories.<\/p>\n

From slowing down to vigorous exercise<\/h2>\n

Almost everyone enjoys walking. Whether that’s a tough hike through the mountains<\/a>, or a 15 minute walk with your kids each day to visit some ponies or a beach. You can also combine a walk with a visit to a castle or a museum. You can often find special themed walks or art routes in the area, where you can combine your walk with learning more about the history, nature or geology of the area, or enjoy interesting images or works of art along the way.<\/p>\n

A picnic is the perfect break during a walk. My tip: grab some fresh bread rolls from the local bakery on the way. Pop them in your backpack with a chunk of cheese, some fruit and your penknife. Your home-made sandwiches always taste better out in the fresh air than they do at home! You can often find nice inns, caf\u00e9s or mountain huts along the way, perfect for trying out some local specialties and drinks while you rest your legs.<\/p>\n

The spring and autumn<\/a> are the perfect times to head out and about. The weather is lovely and mild. In the spring and autumn – particularly in the southern countries – it’s often still wonderfully sunny and pleasantly warm without being too hot. And don’t be afraid of poor weather – just pack your rain jacket and an extra jumper. It seldom rains for long. And have you ever experienced the fairytale atmosphere of a walk in the misty mountains or hills?<\/p>\n

The countryside is often at its best during the low season. In the spring, everything is green and blooming. And in the autumn you can walk among the atmospheric colours.
