Budapest is a paradise for art and culture lovers. With the impressive parliament building on the banks of the Danube, Castle Hill (V\u00e1rhegy), dozens of churches, bridges, squares, parks, museums and bathhouses, it is a versatile city. The ancient coffee houses are great places to catch your breath during a day of walking, shopping and sampling culture. The bars and restaurants are generally very affordable. And otherwise, there is always the Great Market Hall where you can score fresh ingredients to prepare your own meal. Budapest is famous for its many historic bathhouses, where you can relax in a pool or sauna. It\u2019s always nice to give your feet a break!<\/p>\n

If you go to Budapest, you can choose from lovely campsites near the city. Many campsites have excellent public transport connections to Budapest. A great advantage of that is that you can leave your car or motorhome parked at the campsite! Book a pitch at Haller Camping<\/a> (3 miles) or Arena Camping & Guesthouse Budapest<\/a> (3 miles) and you can walk to a tram or metro stop to travel further. Zugligeti \u2018Niche\u2019 Camping<\/a> (7 miles) is also in a favourable location for trips to Budapest.<\/p>\n

  If you are looking for a campsite near the circuit for a camping holiday filled with Formula 1 then you have two options. First, Hell\u00f3 Hall\u00f3 Park<\/a>. This small-scale farm campsite is situated about 13 kilometres east of the Hungaroring. Secondly, I can recommend a stay at Pap-Sziget Camping<\/a>. This campsite is in the town of Szentendre. Here, you camp at a friendly campsite located on one of the islands in the Danube. Your camping pitch is about 16 miles from the circuit.<\/p>\n

  – Lake Balaton: fun in the water in the west <\/strong><\/p>\n

  Of course, the capital city of Hungary is a genuine tourist attraction, but the country also has a lot more to offer. The enormous Lake Balaton for example, located in the west of the country. What about a boat trip through Tapolca<\/a> Lake Cave<\/u> or a cycling tour around the lake? And then we haven\u2019t even mentioned all the fun to be had on the water! A campsite by Lake Balaton <\/a>is the perfect place to enjoy it.<\/p>\n

  Below is a suggestion for a car route along three of Hungary\u2019s highlights. The distance from Lake Balaton to Budapest (as you can see on the map) is 85 miles and the distance from Budapest to Hortob\u00e1gy National Park is a 100 mile drive.<\/p>\n

  

  A trip (about 185 miles) from Lake Balaton via Budapest to Hortob\u00e1gy National Park. This enables you to enjoy the water, culture and countryside to the full during your holiday in Hungary.<\/em><\/p><\/div>\n

  – Hortob\u00e1gy National Park: natural beauty in the east<\/h3>\n

  You are best exploring the area around Lake Balaton first before driving east via Budapest to Hortob\u00e1gy National Park<\/a>. This park mainly consists of pusztas<\/em> (plains) and steppe-like plateaus. This is the location of many grazing cattle, including the white-grey Hungarian Steppe Cattle and the exceptional Racka sheep with their spiral-shaped horns. Besides the steppe landscape, there are beautiful grasslands, swampy areas, hills and forests in the Hortob\u00e1gy National Park. You can follow a variety of walking and cycling routes there. You can find more information at the visitors\u2019 centre, which is a great starting point from which to explore the area.<\/p>\n
