Beautifully situated on a hill with stunning views. Good flat pitch for our 7m motorhome past the swimming pool. Owners very friendly with good English. Big tv in bar/restaurant and good pizzas to take away. Not busy when we were there in mid July. Didn’t walk to village as up a steepish hill, ditto for cycling. Very relaxing so stayed 3 nights.
Camping Bleu Soleil was divided into two parts by the road. On one side there were the swimming pool and pitches with views to the south, and on the other side was the main part of the campsite with many more pitches, bar/restaurant/reception, children's play area, main sanitary block and views to the north.
The young man behind the bar was checking in visitors, speaking at least 3 languages, and remaining calm despite the sudden influx of campers. We had booked online the night before, and were offered a choice of 7 pitches.
The pitch we chose, G2, was on a terrace, at the far end of the site, but not far from the sanitary block. The pitch was large and grassy, and surrounded on 3 sides by trees and shrubbery, which, perhaps, gave a little too much shade, especially in the late afternoon. The pitches were clearly marked, and there was a water tap not far away. We were lucky to have vacant pitches either side of us.
Despite being a large site, it was quite peaceful, and there were great views from some parts of the site.
The sanitary block was unisex, and had two corridors; one with ample WC cubicles and wash cubicles, the other having 6 shower cubicles. Paper was provided, but not soap. The facilities were in a bad state some of the time, but we we unlucky enough to visit when some particularly disgusting children were allowed to play in the block without parental supervision, leaving faeces covered paper hanging from the cubicle hooks, and filling the shower with stones. This marred an otherwise enjoyable stay. The campsite cannot be blamed for these sort of families, though.
The showers were powerful, and had hooks and shelves, but the water temperature was unreliable.
Outside the sanitary block, there were fridge lockers that could be rented.
Bread could be ordered by adding your name to a paper list posted outside the bar, where you could buy some essential food items.
WiFi was available, but beyond 30 minutes per day free allowance, there was a charge (e.g 5,00 euros per day, but other plans were available).
The unheated swimming pool was a good size, but could have done with a few more sunbeds.
The town of Rouffignac was only about 1.5km walk away, and there was a Carrefoure Contact supermarket, with fuel pumps in the town. The supermarket was open on Sunday mornings.
A few kilometres outside of Rouffignac there are caves with over 200 prehistoric drawings, mainly of mammoths, on the walls. Entrance at the time of our visit was 7,50 euros and the tour takes about an hour. It is advisable to arrive around 09:00 to get tickets.
A good value site, with nice scenery, and reasonable facilities. We would stay again if in the area.
Stunning location with views in all directions. Very pretty site with many trees and wild birds. Rouffignac a short walk and very interesting. Well worth a visit.
