We arrived hoping to stay 4 or 5 nights and chose this site as there are so few in the area. However although Lacanau Ocean and the beach are lovely, the site was far too big and crowded for us. We thought September may be quieter but it was packed with lots of mainly german families. The main business is small family lodges, and so Motorhome pitches are cramped and hard to access through a maze of small roads and pathways to the back of the huge site. The turning corners are tight and we caught the rear tail lamp of our motorhome on a tree. The motorhome service point is also awkward to get in and out of and we are under 7 metres long. Adult only pool is good, and access to the lovely beach is great, but unfortunately not enough positives to make us want to stay.
If you use a wheelchair, like me, this is not the site for you! It is hilly and from the quite small, non level, oddly shaped pitches you will find it very difficult to access the only shop and impossible without assistance to use the toilet and shower facilities. The path to the beach is very narrow and not for wheelchair users. This meant the site beach was 'out of bounds' to me as was the majority of the site It is always crammed with as many people they can legally accommodate. This means everything is overcrowded with queues everywhere, especially at reception, yet the staff see no reason to cease their chatter and deal with their fee paying clients. As our friends have teenagers we decided to return to this site to 'give it another chance to impress' It did not and we will NOT be returning, EVER!
We stayed at this camp site for the first time in June 2014. Everything about the site was very good with one exception. Most of the emplacements are very stony and not suitable for tents especially with sewn-in ground sheets which can be damaged by the sharp stones even with the use of an additional ground sheet. Pine pitch falling on your tent may also be a problem. But don't let this put you off staying at this site as it is really very good. Just come prepared for the stones and the pine pitch.
We arrived here just this week intending to stay for 10 days but left after two.
It just wasn't for us upon arrival its a nightmare for motorhomes to park and check-in.The pitches are very small and untidy. The only positive: the showers were hot and the toilet block clean. Its not suitable for motorhomes and like it says if you are a surfer or a teenager it's paradise but not middle aged couples.
