Camping Ur Onea is situated close to the Atlantic Coast, in the characteristic Basque town of Bidart. It is a well kept, medium-sized camping site where everything revolves around the sea, beach and water fun. From the camping site it is only a short walk to the beautiful sandy beaches of Bidart. Enjoyment to the fullest. Prefer freshwater? If so, the tropical water park on the camping site is the place to be.
Tropical water paradise
The most remarkable attraction of the camping site is the extensive water park. Here you can enjoy the following: an indoor and heated balneo swimming pool, a heated outdoor pool with paddling pool, a water playground for the little ones, a lagoon pool, a lazy river, whirlpool baths and a spa.
Space and shade
On the well kept grounds in a beautiful setting, the -mostly shaded- pitches on grass are surrounded by greenery. They are spacious to very spacious, nicely level and clearly demarcated. Some of them are situated on easily accessible terraces. There are standard pitches for tents, comfort pitches (larger) with electricity and extra luxury pitches with water connections and drainage. Nice detail: on most pitches you are allowed two side tents.
Three renovated and clean sanitary buildings provide unlimited hot water, shower and washbasin cubicles and separate cubicles for babies and disabled persons. The luxury camper can rent various types of mobile homes, such as five chalets in Basque style.
Entertainment for all!
For families with children, entertainment is offered in the form of a mini club with face painting and crafts. Swimming pool games and sports tournaments are also organised. In the evenings there are quizzes, cocktail games or Basque evenings with folklore, songs and dancing.

Access to the site was no problem, we had been allocated a pitch (online booking), but were offered the choice of many. The site is well managed, organised & is clean & tidy. As it was early season only one shower block was open but this was not an issue. there is a lovely sandy beach 10min walk away, & a local bus service towards Biaritz for 24hr travel. Jean de Luz is a short journey south & worth a trip. We didn\'t use the restaurant & bar so cannot comment.
I pitched my UK spec van on the grass to the LHS of the pitch front facing out, & my canopy above the hard standing. I found it bizarre to be asked to move my van onto the hard standing incase I churned up the grass. I found this odd as other caravans and Motorhomes were on grass pitches elsewhere, a move would have me looking through the front window into a fence. ( my stay was short so they did not insist I move).
An excellent site within walking distance of the picturesque but very small village of Bidart and beaches.
Facilities are spotless and an added bonus is the covered heated indoor leisure pool. There’s also an outdoor one. There could be more refuse points around the site.
Water on the pitch has to be paid for (5eu) but there are water points dotted around. Wifi is free at the bar but again has to be paid for on the rest of the site. We were here for 7 days and the price @ 22eu was ok given that it covered 2 laptops (not together) and the quality was good.
Bus stops to St Jean, Biarritz and beyond are a short walk away and the service is hourly.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and have no hesitation in recommending this site.
Large family-orientated site just a short walk from a nice sandy beach at Bidart. It was busy when we stayed in late July, lots of families. Our pitch was near the pool complex and the noisy disco kept us awake until midnight. It seemed to be well attended. We only stayed one night. It's expensive if you don't make use of the extensive facilities.
A excellant site with spotless facilities and in a good location within 10 mis walk to small town and shops. It was not made clear that if you did not have a grand comfort pitch, you have to pay for water. Highly recommended.
The reception was excellent and the pitches for touring caravans are well laid out and very good. Have down rated toilet facilities only due to ladies/gents not separate. The on site swimming pool is quite special. However, the beach in Bidart itself was unimpressively dirty and unsuitable for dogs for fear of what they might eat! Having experienced free wifi widely available throughout Spanish sites, it was a nuisance to be charged at various tariffs, prevalent as we learned subsequently, throughout France.
Quite a large terraced site, lovely flower planting and trees providing shade make it very attractive. Nice views. Pitches mostly grass. Loo block functional. As with most sites we used in France, unisex facilities. Toilet paper supplied from a central location, not available in each cubicle. No hand washing facilities in loo area. Beach a short downhill walk, town a short but steep uphill walk from the site. Swimming pool unimaginative but clean and warm.
