A larger camp site but the spaces are in blocks so you dont feel overwhelmed. The Receptionist is locely and speaks much better English than I do French.
The facilites, toilets and showers, are mixed so it can be a tad disconcerting to walk in on man at the urinals, but just keep tour head down.
Fab showers that you can adjust the height of, and instant and plentiful hot water. No pressing of buttons every 20 or 30 seconds. And the toilets and showers were clean and tidy. The motorhome services area is easily accessible, with a drive on drive off without needing to reverse. Always a plus for us when we are towing a trailer. None of the shops or the restaurant were open so cant comment.
Plenty of places on site to walk the dog, and I love the lake, complete with an area to swim in, and then laze about on the man made beach area. Will definitely return on our way back north, and stay a few days to explore more
We stayed in June. We had ACSI but weren\'t told this only included 5 amps of electricity. Only found out when we shorted out the electricity supply. Not enough to boil the kettle!!! We were not the only ones to do this. Poor communication. Paid extra for wifi and couldn\'t get a connection.
This is or could be one of the best sites in France we have visited, but for the restaurant, or to be more accurate an over priced cafe. The site on our visit was occupied mainly by British campers, the cafe was empty, always a good sign, waitress could not speak a word of English or more likely she wouldn't. We had burger and chips and a small pizza, followed by 3 profiteroles a crepe and a glass of red and white wine, very expensive; don't go there. Why do the French do this, on my many trips to France we always come across at least one example of over pricing for poor quality food and ignorant, ill mannered service, Why?
Great site very clean
Dedicated staff customer orientated
Good shower block
Fresh bread available
Only downside wifi internmitent
Obviously a transit for most stayers, we stayed two nights and the turnover is quite large. Will remember this site for four things, you can order bread and pain Au chocolate at reception for the next day, there is a good dog walk around the lake. The urinals, toilets, wash basins, showers, dishwasher sinks, clothes wash sinks are all in the same room! and finally, the site is swarming in flies which can be unbearable. There are good size comfort pitches which we had for ten amp electricity.
Having picked up the dog mess off the pitch and avoided it around the lake it is not such a bad site for a short term stay over, and the staff are very helpful. Would use it again.
Lovely setting, some road noise but a peaceful site. The receptionists are really friendly and very helpful, also possessing excellent English. There is a lake onsite which makes a good walk round it.
A bus service outside makes for easy access to Saint-jean-de-Luz.
Good showers and washing cubicles with lovely hot water. Toilets are good with paper provided, although there could be more of them. It was fairly busy when we were there. There were a huge number of empty pitches and the need for more showers would be problems. Having said that, we were on a fully serviced pitch so did not really need these.
The onsite restaurant was disappointing, limited menu, quite expensive and only ok if you like pizza.
Difficult to find from guidance notes - just come off motorway at J2, turn left at roundabout, right at next roundabout and then turn right about 250 metres on - signposted. You will then find the site on the right. Staff helpful and speak English - gave us good instructions when we got lost. Good stopover en route north or South and close to motorway. Clean facilities. Fresh croissants for breakfast!
Second Christmas spent at Larrouleta. Everything as it should be, with many improvements from last year especially as regards drainage and electricity as we had a few cut-out issues last year this was all resolved this time round.
Site was especially busy, perhaps due to unseasonably warm weather, but the toilet block remained clean and tidy despite heavy use.
Staff as excellent as last year, with more exploring being done of the surrounding area with trips into the mountains. Who would have believed it, mountain climbing made easy, drive to within 250 metres elevation of the peak, then walk the rest.
Anyway will definitely be back next year as I cannot fault the site in any way and we have now started to scratch the surface of the surrounding area.
Stayed for 3 nights, staff very friendly and helpful. Nice pitch, toilets very clean. Fresh bread and croissants available fro reception in mornings. Handy for bus stop with bus into St Jean de Luz or Bayonne. Both nice towns to walk / shop in. Owners appear to be continuing to develop and improve site with new drainage, water and electric being installed.
This was a nice site to us, there was a very good welcome & the pitches were fine. The facilities were fairly clean and had good hot water. There is not much distinction between pitches but it simply felt okay. The upper side of the site is quite close to the road so there is some traffic noise, equally the autoroute is close so there was a slight background noise. We would certainly use this site again, over night definitely but also for a longer stay (on the lower part though probably). The Wifi not cheap here.
