We liked this campsite for its situation: next to a small clean river, at walking distance of a beautiful castle, and the beginning of some beautiful bike routes. However, there are two things about this camping we were not pleased with at all. First, the road crossing the camping is made of some white fine dust that flies up with each car passing by and that makes your shoes white. Second, although most of the staff is super nice, some of them are not that friendly, especially a blond girl, who was very impolite to us. It’s a camping focused on British families.
Owner seemed nice other staff nice a french receptionist we think named cleo who wore round glasses has a serious attitude problem she rude un helpfull and swore at my wife so i had to talk to her and she wouldnt get the owner when i requested. This same person was also rude to other members of our party. The pool is smelly and dirty. The location is fantastic we ordered bread and the order was half missing as was sold to someone else all in if it wasn’t for the location our review would be negative shame
Friendly, well organised site.
Good facilities, great location.
Would stay again and recommend highly.
An excellent site set in a really good location - just a short walk to Chenonceaux chateau and short drives to other chateaus and beside a river.
Pitches are flat, grass and open with irregular shapes so some are larger than others. There is a reasonable amount of tree shade but not for all pitches.
The toilet blocks are quite modern and very clean. Plenty of hot water on tap.
The British owners/managers obviously attract a lots of Brits. The staff were excellent, the café was good but the pool was small.
Prices were very reasonable. Free wi-fi near the reception. An excellent site.
We have visited this site for periods of a few days to a few weeks over the last 8 years and instantly feel at home when we arrive. This small site on the banks of the River Cher is a gem. It is quiet and attractive with riverside pitches particularly in demand and often booked several years in advance. Nice flat cycle rides along the river, local chateaux and nearby villages add to the attraction. The site is frequented by the more mature camper and those with young children, not many teenagers, and as such it is quite. An entertainments schedule runs throughout the summer, but think more family gathering than wild party. As long as we camp we will continue to return.
We have visited this site a number of times and the appeal remains as strong as ever. Welcoming staff, a beautiful situation on the very banks of the Cher, lovely spots to fish for big carp etc and the close proximity to the chateau, one of the most stunning, make this a must visit site.
A small, quiet and friendly site frequented by all nationalities. Wonderful location with most pitches generous in size offering sun and shade. Those on the riverside always in demand. Good cycle rides for the summer cyclist along the river to local villages where you will find a little local history and supermarkets. Local chateau only a few hundred metres away, hot air balloons overhead early most mornings and evenings. Many campers return year on year and understandably so.
We stayed at this lovely site, on our way south. We chose a lovely pitch, with both sun and shade, not too far from the toilet block. There are pretty riverside pitches to be had, but they were taken.
John owns and looks after the site himself,, and he never stops. The facilities are excellent, cleaned daily. Toilet paper and seats too!
We didn\\\'t use the pool or eat in the restaurant. We drank on the terrace one evening. Good choice of wines and products in the shop. Bread can be ordered daily.
Visited Chateau Chenonceau, which is amazing. Only half a mile up the road. The local town Blere is about 10 minutes drive away, where there is a good supermarket.
While wew were there we had a terrific storm that took out the sites electricity. John came in at 2 am to put matters right. Would definitely return .
This campsite is friendly, but not within walking distance of restaurants, the restaurant/ snack bar on site was not great.
Beautiful site with friendly owners and staff. This is our 9th year here and already booked for next year.
Young child’s cplayground but if they are crawling you may not want to be beside the river.
