Tours Les Acacias ***
General information
Only 5 km from the city of Tours, in the village La Ville-aux-Dames, lies the small camping site Les Acacias. This region, the Loire Valley, is very popular with tourists. This can be attributed to the number of castles and vineyards. The nearby lovely city of Tours also attracts many visitors. The camping site is opened throughout the year. It is mainly a transit camping site, where you can, of course, also spend a few days longer to explore the area.

There was a friendly welcome here and the site was generally ok. There is a large supermarket close. The free Wifi worked ok. The road at the top of the site was blocked off (fun getting in!) so the site was very quiet other than the owls! The facilities need updating and some deep cleaning. We'd use it again as a stopover but I don't think we would stay.

Good generous sized pitches.
Although site is described as being quiet, we found the road that runs along one side is noisy. There is also a train line along the opposite side, military planes fly overhead, so no not quiet.

Arrived at 2pm when the office opened and were given a choice of pitches. We requested a sunny pitch as far away from the road as possible, based on reviews on this site, and the helpful lady recommended the perfect spot. Facilities seemed clean and more than adequate, grounds were well kept and position of the site good for visiting Tours and local wine producers. Only one small downside that we discovered - we didn't notice that we had parked under an oak tree and the acorns falling on our roof sounded like bullets! Entirely our fault and easily avoided.

Good free wifi 'at the bar', plenty of hot water in showers, open all year and a massive L'Eclerc in a kilometre walk. Apart from that not much else to say, staff friendly and helpful but typically of most French sites any claim to have bars and restaurants available in September should be taken with a pinch of salt. Can't see any other reason to stay here except as a stopover. You may find the permanent chalets occupied by groups of workers a little off putting but it didn't give us a problem.

This was our 2nd visit to the site in the last 6 months and it was just as good this time as the last. On our last visit we were near the road and found it a little, but not excessively noisey, so we asked for pitch further away and were immediately offered one as far from the road as possible, on hard standing which was large, flat and close, but not too close to the shower block and water supply.
Over the two week stay we encountered no problems and the staff were freindly and helpful. The showers were spacious and hot, if the walls in the cubicals were a little grubby - pity as the toilets and floor are scrupiously cleaned daily!
Excellent site, we will be returning and can highly reccommend it.

Good stopover site. Don't let the staff put you under the trees next to the main road as it is quite noisy and the trees bomb your roof with bits of branches and acorns (in autumn). Free wifi, toilet floors clean but walls etc not. Dated toilet block. Showers good.
Dear Sir,
We thank you for your comment.
In order to improve our quality of service, we take into consideration each of your remarks. Thus, we pay special attention to the cleanliness of our premises by cleaning several times a day. A full facelift is performed annually in the early season and there is music in the heated toilet blocks for your comfort. We would be pleased to welcome you again at “Les acacias” and feel free to ask for a pitch unshaded far away from the road .

We enjoyed our stay at Les Acacias even though it was raining for part of our stay. The staff were very friendly and helped me with trying to speak French. We had a grass pitch under trees, which got to be a bit of a pain during the wet periods. The toilet block is dated, but was very clean. Take your own paper! I wasn't too pleased with the water connection as it was one of the push-for-water types and there weren't a lot of them. It took me ages to fill the Aquaroll and I couldn't use my permanently plumbed in kit. There is no bar or restaurant close by - well there is but it seems to be permanently closed. There are good road connections and a large E. LeClerk close by.
We enjoyed our stay, despite the rain and will definitely visit again.
Dear Sir,
In order to improve our quality of service, we take into consideration each of your remarks. For information, a platform where you can fill campers with fresh water is located directly behind the bar. Anyway, we thank you for this kind comment and would be pleased to welcome you again at "Les acacias'.

Very handy site for Tours and Amboise. Good cycle tracks along the Loire. Bus route very close. Large supermarket also very close. Campsite Bar not open and restaurant next to campsite closed all weekend despite sign saying open tous les jours! This was poor as there was nothing else available within walking distance particularly on Sundays. Toilets/showers ok but seemed a bit run down although cleaned regularly. Stayed in March for 1 night on our way to Spain and 5 nights in June. Would stay again.
Dear Sir,
In order to improve our quality of service, we take into consideration each of your remarks. Please note that our food & beverage activity mainly depends on the attendance of the campsite. Thus, in high season, our team will be pleased to welcome you at the bar or at the restaurant even on Sundays. In addition, all year round, a grocery shop is available at the reception. On top of that, we pay special attention to the cleanliness of our premises by cleaning several times a day. A full facelift is performed annually in the early season and there is music in the heated toilet blocks for your comfort. Anyway, we would be pleased to welcome you again at “Les acacias” and feel free to ask for a pitch far away from the road. We thank you for your comment.

Not one of the most friendly sites compared with others that we had visited during our travels. The facilities for motorhomes where marked on the wall at the toilets, but we could not find them. This was the first time that we had come across unfriendly staff and would not consider going back to this site.
We would not recommend this site to others as there are better around.
Dear Sir,
In order to improve our quality of service, we take into consideration each of your remarks. Thus, we thank you for your comment. We apologize for any inconvenience you have suffered two years ago but please note that a new staff is in charge and will be happy to welcome you at "Les acacias". We also added markings on site and modernised our "food & beverage" facilities. For your comfort, we expand our MobilHome range and finally, the free WIFI connection has been renewed as well as children playground area.
Yours faithfully.
