Only 5 km from the city of Tours, in the village La Ville-aux-Dames, lies the small camping site Les Acacias. This region, the Loire Valley, is very popular with tourists. This can be attributed to the number of castles and vineyards. The nearby lovely city of Tours also attracts many visitors. The camping site is opened throughout the year. It is mainly a transit camping site, where you can, of course, also spend a few days longer to explore the area.
In the shaded reception you will be warmly welcomed by the owners or receptionist. Ahead of you, you see a rather open site with only some shade along the perimeter (depending on the time of the day). Here you will also find the permanent accommodation: some twenty holiday homes and mobile homes suitable for 2-6 persons. Overnight guests with their own tent, caravan or camper van may select their own pitch on the central grounds, often partly demarcated.
Restaurant with nice terrace
The restaurant of the camping site, Au Jardin des Dames, has a pleasant terrace which becomes the hub of the camping site in the evenings. The menu is limited, but the quality of the food on offer is extremely good. At the reception you can buy basic necessities, but it is only a 300 m walk to a large shopping centre with a supermarket.
Directly from the camping site you can venture on cycling trips through the Loire Valley or go to the city of Tours. Across from the D751 (be careful when crossing the road) you can can go on great walks along forests on the banks of the Loire.

Liked - This is a great location for stopping off on our way down to Lacanau. We did the route 2 years ago and stayed at this same campsite then. It is well positioned for visiting Tours. The pitch is well maintained and has electric and water
Disliked - The toilet blocks didn’t have soap in them for our 2 nights we were there.
We had a meal on our first night at the campsite restaurant. We ate there when we came 2 years ago and were looking forward to it again but was very disappointed. The prices were expensive with what we got. I had a very small version of a chicken cottage pie and then half a plate of lettuce and the price was €14. The kids had an even smaller portion and also half a plate of lettuce (not the chips as advertised). We ended up having to cook again at the caravan as were so hungry.
The inflatable was also not up

This was our 2nd visit to the site in the last 6 months and it was just as good this time as the last. On our last visit we were near the road and found it a little, but not excessively noisey, so we asked for pitch further away and were immediately offered one as far from the road as possible, on hard standing which was large, flat and close, but not too close to the shower block and water supply.
Over the two week stay we encountered no problems and the staff were freindly and helpful. The showers were spacious and hot, if the walls in the cubicals were a little grubby - pity as the toilets and floor are scrupiously cleaned daily!
Excellent site, we will be returning and can highly reccommend it.
Good free wifi 'at the bar', plenty of hot water in showers, open all year and a massive L'Eclerc in a kilometre walk. Apart from that not much else to say, staff friendly and helpful but typically of most French sites any claim to have bars and restaurants available in September should be taken with a pinch of salt. Can't see any other reason to stay here except as a stopover. You may find the permanent chalets occupied by groups of workers a little off putting but it didn't give us a problem.
