Only 4 km away from Arrigny you'll find the terraced campground De La Forêt. The campground stretches over a large slightly sloping property (4 hectares) and is located near the Lac du Der and the forested Presqu'ile de Larzicourt.
The campsites are located in the forest and vary in size because they are set out among the trees. The gravel paths lead you to the loping, nicely fenced off sites with usually hard ground. You will find the mobile homes for rental on a separate part of the campground.
Active around the lake
There is a large sunny terrace with lounges at the heated swimming pool and kiddie pool. For children, there is a large playground on the campground, a table tennis table, a jeu de boules pitch and you can geocache. There is a larger playground at the lake. The campground is located on a cycling route 42 km around the Lac du Der.
Eating pizza at the swimming pool
You can order fresh bread to be delivered to the campground. The nearest supermarket is in Vitry-le-François or St. Dizier. The bar/restaurant has a terrace with a view of the pool. Here you can order from the small menu, such as pizza and snacks.
Lac du Der
100 metres away from the campground is a popular sandy beach on one of the largest man-made lakes in Western Europe. The water flows slowly, which is ideal for small children. Lac du Der is a paradise for ornithologists, and you can observe the cranes here. Water sports enthusiasts love it here too, courses are given in windsurfing and sailing.

The photos of this site imply that it is on the lakeside. It certainly is not. The photos show a nearby playground that is not part of the campsite, with the lake behind it.
Made very welcome on arrival, including our two dogs. Free choice of pitch, some too difficult for our large outfit. Toilet facilities clean, open air so no smells! Location lovely with excellent cycling and walking.
I must try to remain objective about this site, as despite it being very convenient for the toll-free cut through from the South via Saint Dizier. it does convey a general feeling of heavy neglect. Weeds absolutely surrounded the toilet block (they could have been picked out by one person in half a day & made to look so much better), and the hideously muddy pitches could have done with a healthy dose of gravel (Im no fan of gravel, but the owner even admitted the mud was a problem). Although the site was undoubtably close to the lake, you got no feel of this, as it is totally invisible from the site... A big clue is the absolutely horrendous mosquitos who alight on you the second you keep still!
I only say these things because it is a pity that more effort wasn't expended on the place... Having said that, it felt close to nature & we will return (if not desperately quickly)...
A message to the owner..: Please help yourself by weeding around the toilet block... Plant some plants too...
This site should be taken off the ACSI sites list as it is so bad. My pitch was very uneven with stones and holes and practically no grass. The unmade road through the site was bad and I was glad I wasn't towing a caravan. If I had children with me I wouldn't have stayed. I was only there for one night and stayed because it was already too late to find another site.
The entrance looked like a building site as heavy machinery was being used for some building project. The actual pitches were very stony and some were difficult to access. Toilet facilities were basic. The whole site had an air of neglect. We won't be returning.
