Camping de Besançon - Chalezeule is situated in Besançon. This campsite with swimming pool is located along the river Doubs and is suitable for campers looking for quietude. The large lawn around the swimming pool is well suited for a variety of sports and games. Close to the campsite is a tram stop from where you can get to the town centre. When you travel eastward for an hour, you reach the Swiss border.
Blue and green
Although slightly hidden from view behind the trees, the camping is quite easy to find. You can recognise it by the off-beat reception: a blue-coloured building on stilts. Entering the camping grounds, you are surrounded by greenery. Amidst trees and on lawns are the pitches, the bungalows and rental tents. There are even sites along the river where you can put up your tent.
Swimming and sunbathing
Camping de Besançon - Chalezeule is eminently suitable for people who are looking for peace and quiet. The campsite does not offer entertainment. However, children can play to their heart's content in the playground, the swimming pool and on the sports fields.
At the heart of the campsite, you will find the swimming pool. Not only can you take an impressive dive off one of the diving boards or swim as many laps as you like, but the large lawn around the pool also offers many possibilities. You can play table tennis, volleyball, games or just enjoy sunbathing on the lawn. Close to the swimming pool, bordering the lawn flows the river Doubs.

A great site to visit Besançon from as there is a tram stop very near. A great Pizza place across the road too. The river Doubs is beautiful but the site could do with some attention.
Only stopped for one night but it could easily be a destination in itself. Good. sized pitches with water/drain electric. Clean indoor and outdoor pool, restaurant/ bar. Everything you need. Toilets / showers cramped. Need own transport as no bus stops. Walk to lake easy down steps. Really nice calm place.
A really good value site. Very well kept. Plenty of space between pitches. Hardstanding for motorhomes on upper level. Clean sanitary facilities with unisex private sinks and showers. Lidl, Carrefour, McDonald's and tram to town within 10 minute walk.
Good to have a large supermarket within walking distance - showers and loos acceptable - had music playing in them which was unusual ! - the site was about to close, so was fairly empty.
Lovely site. Good welcome could speak at least 2 languages fluently. Facilities spotless. pitches shaded with trees.
The staff were very helpful and the site is a short walk from supermarket and new tram system for Besancon.
Site just opening up when we were there (so can't comment on most facilities) and pitches were being cut (Note, there is a kerb on lots of pitches which gave a problem with our dodgy mover battery) The swimming park is next door with plenty of grassed area to use.
Take great care when going in as you need to be set up correctly for the rather narrow gate entrance. Also check the height limit if you have bikes or a tall unit as you have to leave via an underpass.
Overall we enjoyed it and a good site for visiting the area
Our opinion was made more favourable by the fact that we had a pitch beside the river. We stayed four days. The country road on the other side of the River Doub avoided the road works. Large convenient free car park opposite the fortress. Pleasant, leisurely town. Large and small supermarkets within a mile of the campsite.
The staff were very friendly and helpful as regards nearby facilities - the restaurant was not open during our stay. There were some really pleasant walks adjacent to the site. The ablutions were reasonable and the site was clean.
Stayed 2 nights. The bus into Besancon is just around the corner. They are putting a new tram system in so there was a lot of road works etc.
The site appeared quite run down. The grass needed cutting and the facilities were tired and needed modernizing. The swimming pool was not open and it looked as if there was some repairs going on.
