This is an ex-municipal site and although it states in the description that there is a pool, it looks like the town\'s pool and is just outside the campsite. Whilst we were there the pool wasn\'t open. Toilets and showers are ok but hot water runs out if shower is taken late morning (ie after 9am). Pitches are a good size. Town is a bit scruffy round the edges but nice meals down by the canal.
Handy campsite for access to Carcassonne. Bus right outside the main gate.
Municipal swimming pool outside site. Super U supermarket about ten minutes walk.
Stopped here to visit Carcassonne. Although the ACSI book says there is a swimming pool it looks like the old towns pool and isn\'t open all the time. Toilet and showers are serviceable but if you shower late morning (after 8.30/9 am) you will be lucky to get any warm water. Pitches are a good size. Nice meals to be had down by the canal.
Visited on a one night stopover, toilet and shower block very old and dated. Pitches very uneven and dusty. Facilities reached by either a slope or steep, steps, certainly no use to the less mobile. Disabled toilet and shower in female section of shower block only. Would not go there again if in region.
Very friendly receptionist. We were in the overflow field as the main site was full. To be honest I think we got the better deal as the main site looked cramped. The book said New toilet block for 2016. We saw no new toilets and the ones we used were old and dirty. The shower block let the site down as everything else was fine.
Got caught out as the ACSI reduced rated doesn't apply until after 14th September. Good level spacious pitches alongside the river. Toilet block and facilities were average with hot showers, but access was up a steep flight of steps. certainly not suited for the disabled. Wi-fi was free for first 10 mins only. then had option to buy. 10 min walk into nearby Trebes town, which has restaurants and tourist information situated alongside the Canal de Midi. Cycled along the canal into Carcasonne, but path not comfortable for a road bike, so used the road on our return, plus the path was closed for 4 hours mid week day as diseased trees were being felled-info from Tourist office.
We had a 2 night stopover here so that we could visit Carcassone. Easy to find, good access. The gentleman on reception was lovely & very helpful. The pitches were very sparse & basically just dried mud do a bit dusty but this us to be expected unless you have hard standing laid. The toilet facilities were adequate but a little dated. As it was the beginning of July when we visited it was fairly quiet. We enjoyed the walk into Trebes for our evening drinks & meal sitting alongside the canal. We caught the bus to & from Carcassone as there was a stop outside the site. Overall we enjoyed our stay & would use this site again if in the area.
Just outside Carcasonne and we thought this would be a good site to visit the city. Wish we had picked elsewhere as the site was very average. Toilets could do with knocking down and a new block putting in. Not really kept that clean..
Outside the campsite are large blocks of flats which had youths making noise until the early hours.
Would not stay here again, and we moved to the city site to go into Carcasonne.
Best thing I can say is probably priced correctly with de CampingCard tarief!
Toliets very much OK. I cant quite say clean, but OK if you are quick!
We planned on going into Carcasonne from here, but to be honest the surrounding town wasnt the best and we didnt didnt feel that comfortable leaving for too long.
Days were noisy as very much a one night stop place so lots of vans moving and arriving. Also the swimming pool is used by lots of kids (with school and after) so constant voices. Nights were a little noisy as the teens were out on the streets outside the site.
Wouldnt stay again ...
l’Ombre des Micocouliers is listed as a 4 star campsite. It is great value and one of the nicest sites we stayed on. Not only because it was small and well laid out, with large pitches, nice hedging and lots of trees, but it was also on the bank of the River Aude and within 1k of the Canal du Midi.
Trebes is a very pretty town, with a fantastic church that must be visited just for its medieval wood carvings supporting the roof.
The owners of the site, Henri and Brigitte speak very good English and they are incredibly helpful.
The camp site is very near the Canal du Midi and we cycled from the campsite along it to Carcassonne in order to visit the historic town. It is ideally sited for easy access to Carcassonne, by bike, even if you are not very fit (I think it was about 15km to Carcassonne), but along a flat tow path that is a pleasure.
The restaurant was not open when we visited, so we cannot comment on that facility.
The washing facilities are a little dated, but they are all there and very clean.
We will certainly be staying there again in the future, as it is in such a convenient and pretty location
