Campsite La Mer ***

General information

Campsite La Mer is located in Cap d’Agde, the coastal area of the southern French city of Agde. The campsite is situated almost right on the Mediterranean coast, which makes it a perfect home base for many days at the beach. Furthermore, the campsite is an ideal starting point for city trips. From Cap d’Agde, you can get to beautiful French cities such as Carcassonne, Narbonne and Montpellier in no time. If you need to get some grocery shopping, then go on the bike! The local shops are very easy to reach.

Two parts

You will be warmly welcomed to the campsite grounds by Geraldine and Renée Pouget. The many (palm) trees will also heartily receive you. The campsite can roughly be divided into two parts. The pitches are mainly on the right side of the campsite and the left side is reserved for the accommodation.

With the whole family

Campsite La Mer is a real family campsite. There is plenty of entertainment, especially in the summer. Various games and sports tournaments are organised here. The bouncy castle also provides plenty of fun for the little ones. And of course, you can take a trip to the beach to build sandcastles every day.

Béziers

At 25 kilometres from the campsite is where you will find Béziers, one of France’s oldest towns. The town is an amazing sight: The River Orb flows through it, the cathedral stands out above everything and there are little old houses with orange roofs. The best way to drive into Béziers is from a south-westerly direction. You then go over the old bridge and you are almost directly at the cathedral, a must see.

Travelling party: Couple

We came upon this site by accident about 4 years ago,and met some wonderful people (including the owners). All of these people return year after year. Needless to say we have been back every year since to meet up with our French, Dutch, Irish and English friends. Such wonderful hospitality from Jean-Marie and his family, never experienced elsewhere.

Site is 150 meters from the sea, and this is best attraction. Staff very friendly, but although pitch was booked, we had to search on arrival for best one available. Pitch was reasonable, but electricity point was across path, and other pitch, and at max length of cable. Water point was 50 meters away. Other than bread, no stores are available, so you need to stock up before arrival. WIFI on terrace is good.

Travelling party: Seniors

Have used this site for extended stays in May/June and again in September every year since 2009. The site owners have always made us most welcome and each year there have been visible improvements to the site and its facilities. The welcome my wife and I received from both the site owners and the regular visitors from France, Germany and Holland, it seemed like a home from home. During our stay in May/June 2012 there was a Jubilee street party - a 70th birthday - and a 40th wedding anniversary amongst the few English couples who were on the site and these occasions were shared by them with the owners, family and campers of differing nationalities.

stayed on site in both May/june and again in september. The facilities were kept as good in september as they were during our earlier visit. In september the site owners organised a visit to their vineyard for everyone on site to pick grapes visit the local winery and then proved lunch for everyone. my wife and I were the only english people on site and the dutch french and german campers made us most welcome
