Campsite Domaine de la Paille Basse, a country estate campsite in the Castels chain is situated on a forested ridge near Souillac (Lot). The first thing you notice is the beautiful view and the harmony with which the campsite has been integrated into the surrounding nature. The property is very green and well maintained with a number of colourful flower pots. The restored medieval farms now house the reception and a charming restaurant.

Camping or glamping?

Here camping varies from basic to luxurious. The spacious campsites are pretty, primarily flat and well organized. The sanitation is modern. There is a choice of a standard site with or without electricity, a comfort site with a water connection and a premium site with its own refrigerator, picnic table, gas barbecue and two loungers. If you don't have your own equipment, you can rent a Coco Sweet tent or choose the spacious and charming glamping tent.

Water fun and amusement

The campsite has three swimming pools, a large and deep outdoor pool, a heated shallow pool and a heated kiddie pool. There are also four water slides next to each other and a water play area for the little ones. There are play areas, tennis courts, a grass football pitch and jeu-de-boules pitch. The older youth can strut the latest dance moves in the teenager disco (July and August).

To do and see

La Paille Basse is very child-friendly, so in the summer months many families have fun with the children. Other guests are active campers who like to hike in the surrounding area and culture lovers who really love the picturesque villages, castles and churches in the area.

Liked - le camping est plutôt joli en photo. Il est ombragé et c'est plutôt agréable. En revanche l'entretien laisse a désiré. Notre mobil home n'était pas vraiment propre et sûrement uniquement nettoyer par les locataires précédents. Nous avons retrouver une bouteille cassé sur l'aire de jeu que j'ai ramené moi-même à l'accueil. la moyenne piscine était dégoutante avec une eau brouillé. le toboggan surveillé par un jeune homme en permanence sur son téléphone portable. L'aire de jeu très fréquentée le soir n'a aucun éclairage.
Ce camping ne mérite pas ses 5 étoiles.
Disliked - Nous avons subi une coupure d'électricité qui nous a contraint a jeter pas mal d'aliments du frigo. certes ce n'est pas la faute du camping mais un geste commercial aurait été apprécié. Le personnel du bar était très désagréable. Un soir j'ai fait la queue pendant 30 minutes pour prendre 4 bières et 2 glaces, j'ai payé. Puis je suis revenu 30 secondes après pour dire au barman que j'avais oublié une glace, il m'a répondu : La queue est ici Monsieur ! alors qu'il venait de me servir... J'ai donc pris la glace et je suis parti sans la payer !

Liked - Nous avons aimé la région, la taille de l'emplacement et le fait qu'il soit ombragé. Le côté petit village ancien est très sympa.
Disliked - Franchement nous n'avons pas eu de chance au niveau du temps... Mais du coup ce camping n'est clairement pas prévu pour les jours de pluie... Pas de salle au snack ou terrasse couverte (juste un filet) restaurant visiblement trop petit par rapport au nombre de campeur...
La piscine est en mauvais état, les jeux pour enfants aussi.

L'accueil est déplorable (Marine) pas du tout dynamique. "Voici votre emplacement bonne soirée" on aurait aimé avoir plus de renseignements sur l'organisation du camping Les horaires etc... Ou qu'on nous ouvre le compteur pour accéder aux prises par exemple !

Disliked - Camping trop grand à mon goût, arrivée en camping car, du mal à trouver notre emplacement car numéro au sol cassé ou caché dans les arbustes, personne ne nous accompagne à notre emplacement, je pensais que dans un 5* cela se faisait …
Pas de transat à la piscine ! Même en période de Covid je pense que des solutions peuvent être trouvées …
