We were just about to re-book this campsite, which we visited last year and found delightful, and we came across all these dreadful reviews. We don\'t usually do reviews but feel we must add some balance. This campsite is a little gem, it is in the middle of the wine growing region and has delightful walks, lovely villages and towns nearby and the manager could not be more helpful. We had an attempted robbery in a supermarket in the nearby town, not having very good French, the owner acted as translator for us, contacting the Gendarmarie and also the supermarket for video footage. We used the little bar in the campsite every evening, the welcome was warm and hospitable. Proper home cooked regional food was on offer (basically a \'plat du jour\') but it was of excellent quality and well priced. The camping field was large, with few occupants, we were given a choice of where to pitch.
We were allowed to leave our caravan there for a week, at a very moderate charge, while we had a family holiday at Centre Parcs, nearby. The toilet blocks are not new, but we found them perfectly adequate and clean, with plentiful hot water. We are planning to spend another week at this delightful rural site this year (again combined with a stay with our children / grandchildren at Centre Parcs). Some of us like to be \'far from the madding crowd\' in a rural retreat. This is a charming and delightful site, we liked it very much.
This campsite is just an open field. the sanitaires are old and open and muddy. The rubbish bins were overflowing, and rubbish was blowing about. Amazingly within 20 minutes of our arrival at 4pm, the owner was cleaning the sanitaire, and someone removed and emptied the bins!
I am amazed that ACSI actually recommend this site, and suggest that it is re-inspected.
I found the site difficult to find as signage was minimal. the site itself is in a remote location and is in need of significant investment. facility block was not clean and dated. The lady running it was very nice and we did feel that she needed some help! I would not chose to stay again unless improvements were carried out.
We used this site for 1 night only, which was enough. The pitch needed mowing, bthe toilets were not very clean, bthe long grass caused our dog to get infested with tics, bso bewere definitely the worst acsi site we have been on in our 7 yrs of using the book,
This campsite was awful! We planned to stay for 3 days and left the next morning. We would have left that day except we were too tired after a long drive to hunt for another one. The lady in charge was very nice but they need to up their game if they want visitors. The toilets were filthy and there was only one shower. If the camp site had been full, this would have been areal problem. I did feel sorry for the owners - clearly a case of not having the cash to make improvements.
Lovely site wildlife, good dog walking, lots of space, good location, lovely countryside. Recommended for those enjoying freedom from small pitches.
We were made to feel very welcome, but unfortunately this camp site lacks some tlc. The toilets were dirty and unheated and had not been cleaned since the end of the previous season. This could be a great site - what a shame that the owners do not look after it better. We will not be going back.
The campsite is totally unkept!! The complete site needs an overhaul and a lot of money spending on it to bring it up to any sort of standard.
Toilets are dirty and never cleaned. Never anybody at reception or the bar. Bar area dirty and always dirty glasses and cans everywhere. Pool needs cleaning and all slabs are uneven, edging stones loose,
bad smells from fosse on site next to childrens swing. Sports area? Never saw it. The owner is an over weight, lazy, unfriendly person, not bothered about the motorbikes spreading dust all over the site. Has very bad people skills, his wifes name is nadia, you find that out because that's all you hear him shouting. It's a camping version of fawlty towers, so if that's what you like it will be perfect for you.
Definately shouldnt be in the book.
This must be the worst ACSI site that I have ever visited. How it got through an inspection I will never know. The whole site is unkempt, smelly bins by water tap, unclean showers/toilets, not cleaned in the 24 hours we were there. They are not modern and not heat as described in the site book. Broken lights, no place for washed dishes and the hot water scoldingly hot, a real danger to young and old. Dirty areas around the swimming pool, food on floor under tables on terrace. On top of all that it is within 500m of a motorcross track, extremely noisy with dust blowing across site at weekend we were there, which starts at midday and finishes at 6 in the evening.Owner just shrugged when I complained and couldn't care less. NOT RECCOMMENDED and should be withdrawn from the the ASCI list!
Upon arrival found all the bins to be full. Access to the toilet/shower block very poor, uneven surfaces and nettles around the elsan point. Unable to lock toilet doors and poor lighting at night. Furniture around the pool damaged, unsafe would recommend scrapping all and replacing. Advertises fishing but unable to get close enough to the river due to undergrowth major work required. In general the whole site requires renovation, potential to be a nice site.
Prices in the bar appear to be quite high €5 for 2 cans of Fanta.
