Flower Camping L'Ile d'Offard is a town campsite on the outskirts of Saumur, located on a small island in the Loire. Here you camp under the watchful eye of the Castle of Saumur which is situated on a hill in the centre of town, on the other side of the river. With a wide and varied range of rental accommodation and delimitated touring pitches, the campsite has a place for every camper.

Camping on the Loire

The campsite, which stretches out on both sides of the Loire, offers space for almost 190 touring pitches and over 80 rental units. The many pitches, where the ground is not always level, give the campsite a slightly untidy impression. Nevertheless, the spacious touring pitches are clearly delimitated by hedges and trees. The most beautiful spots on the campsite are for the rental accommodations. You have a wide choice: from luxury lodge tents and chalets to the simpler mobile homes.

International camping public

The campsite attracts an international camping public. The rental accommodations are mainly occupied by families with children, while the touring pitches are occupied by campers of different ages.

Swimming with a view of the castle

The swimming pool is located att the front of the campsite, in a clearing in the sun. Here you can swim while overlooking the Castle of Saumur. Next to a large swimming area are a paddling pool and a whirlpool. Around the pools you will also find a large sun deck with sun loungers. Swimmers get thirsty. Have a drink on the pavement café of the bar!

Liked - The city, the campsite, the arra a d the people sll made our holiday special. There's so much to see and do. This was our second stay at Ile d'Offard snd we would gladly again. It is such a pleasant and peaceful site.
Disliked - The bed was a little too large for the bedroom and it would have been useful to have a conventional oven. Also the decking was rotten in places but we were able to avoid sitting in the area affected. There was a rather large gap between the decking and the entrance which might be a hazard for young children.

Liked - Lovely pool and bar area in a great area close to Saumur. With an ACSI card, the campsite offers great value for money.
Disliked - Check in very difficult - we were told over the phone in the morning that there were pitches available and we could arrive just before 12. We did that but there were no pitches available and we were sent away and told to come back at 1.30pm when people may have left and there would be pitches available. We waited outside and didn’t see any Motorhomes or caravans leaving, however when we returned at 1.30pm there were amazingly pitches available. First pitch was not fit for purpose with a tree trunk in the middle, after two trips to reception, got a decent pitch.

Our visit initially started with a nightmare. Phoned up on the morning of our arrival to check they had pitches available, which they said they did, and we were told we could arrive just before 12. When we got there we were told that the campsite was full and we could come back at 1.30pm to check if any pitches had become available.

By 1.30pm there was a queue of motorhomes and caravans waiting to get in. We luckily managed to get a pitch but when we got to it it was so poor, the pitch had tree roots growing in the middle and was completely uneven - not fit for purpose at all. After two hikes up to reception and waiting behind the queues of people still waiting to get in, we managed to get a decent pitch.

Overall it’s a lovely campsite with a beautiful heated pool which overlooks the chateau. It’s right on the river banks and an easy walk down the river and over the bridge to Saumur.

Lovely bar and restaurant area which was open all day - the food wasn’t amazing but okay for a campsite restaurant. Would highly recommend the wine though!

Liked - Receptionist Lisa was very helpful. Pitch was good - near conveniences and with shade! Not too crowded.
Disliked - Few water taps for camper vans. Ground became muddy after rain showers.
