La Garangeoire castle campsite is a large, friendly campsite close to the Atlantic Ocean. The campsite near St. Julien des Landes has something to offer just about every camper, from horse riding to diving lessons and canoeing to massage. Camp on a spacious camping pitch or in one of the many accommodation units on the expansive site.

A rustic scene

La Garangeoire castle campsite is located at the heart of the French countryside and just 15 kilometres from the Atlantic coast. You can have your feet in the sand or dip your toe in the ocean within twenty minutes (by car), or for fun in the water closer to home, why not check out one of the many lakes that surround the campsite, such as Lac du Jaunay?

As you drive along the long driveway to the campsite, you will see the castle in the distance — through the trees. The grounds contain the castle and its extensive estate of mature forest, grass fields and sandy paths. It's a rustic scene. The site accommodates spacious camping pitches and a variety of accommodation types.

A little charm

The campsite is popular with all manner of holidaymakers, from young families with small children to older children and couples looking to enjoy the countryside. This varied campsite is full of charm and offers something for everyone.

The campsite has a large heated outdoor swimming pool with slides and toddlers' pool plus a heated indoor swimming pool. Diving lessons are arranged in the swimming pools. The campsite also boats a natural swimming pool with sandy beach, plus a lake on the northern edge, which is suitable for fishing and canoeing.

Travelling party: Family with children, 4 – 12 years

Liked - A friendly and fun place for families, especially with young kids but also teens. Plenty to see and do. Lovely location, too!
Disliked - Reception can get very busy at times, leading to lengthy waits, as well as the bar/ice-cream stall.
Take out food was ok but a bit limited.

Liked - We love the vibe and the countryside setting which Is very special. We have made great friends that we see every year. The tour of the grounds was great and the place is really keen with lovely friendly staff.
Disliked - This was our first time holidaying in June, maybe the staff were only being trained in but choice of food and activities limited. The usual rotisserie chickens were not available and the take away chips were poorly cooked, either cold or over cooked. Service at the bar also very slow. Table quiz in English was not legible as translation was not good/complete.

Liked - Renovations are very nice. Overall very happy with our stay.
Disliked - Queues at bar were too long and more experienced staff are needed. Bar area could have been kept a bit cleaner to help with flys and wasps. Evening entertainment was quite poor compared to other years and the online quiz didn’t really work.

Liked - Friendly staff, a warm welcome, spacious pitch and good, clean toilet blocks and washing facilities. The area is beautiful and I got out on some wonderful bike rides. Nice choice of beaches within 40 mins drive and nearer.
Disliked - Pool area is too small for the number of guests - there is not enough space and not enough sun loungers for all. Despite the signs asking people to refrain from reserving or keeping sun loungers they are not using, it happens all the time. Families put their towels out taking many sun loungers and are gone from the pool area for hours at a time.
We were disappointed with the Friday night quiz which we have always enjoyed in the past years. It is now done on mobile phone, can't be done really as a team and the translation of the questions from French to English is not very good. Shame

Liked - Lovely break the resort has everything covered for the kids. Love the cabins and all the facilities
Disliked - No noise after 10PM in the camping area (too early). The bar could do with a better selection. Supermarket could also do with a better selection.

Liked - I liked the surroundings and the vibe and atmosphere on the site.
The site felt safe for kids. Beautiful flowers and trees.
Enough space including sun loungers at the pool that you didn’t have to get there early to get one (but not sure what this would be like in high season).
The staff were very friendly, always smiling and helpful.
Free pedal boats and canoe is very nice.
The grounds were clean.
The bouncy castles were great.
The pitch for soccer tournament is great.
Nice central place and easy to do day excursions.
Chateau is beautiful to look at.

Disliked - The take away was poor quality & it was expensive. The lasagne was frozen in the middle. Coffee is terrible
The restaurant was ok but over priced and choices were limited.
The bouncy castles for the small children could be up more.
bike rental is expensive €35 for 3 days!!!!
The convenient store shouldn’t close during the day this is very annoying.
The lighting around the camp site is very bad after dark. The sensor in ‘Roses’ garden wasn’t working. You needed a torch after you passed the night security cabin as there were few lights making it dangerous.

Liked - Lots of activities for kids of al ages (teenagers will love it too). They really cater for all ages
Disliked - Didn’t dislike anything.
Would love more market traders to be on the campsite in the evenings. Would love more food options on the campsite.
