In the town of Château d’Oléron, in the south-east of the exceptional island Ile d’Oléron, you will find Camping Airotel Oléron. You will enjoy the shade and privacy on the spacious pitches of this wooded camping site (21 ha). A large number of rental accommodation units is available, including unique tents, 'Pipo the Clown' mobile homes and fisherman cabins. Take a refreshing dive in the swimming pool. There is a varied entertainment programme for campers of all ages. Other than this, the camping site is especially geared towards horse lovers. Go on glorious beach rides (for advanced riders) or take some lessons (also for beginners).
Camping amidst green
The camping site consists of level pitches separated by trees and bushes. The well maintained camping site has paved roads, along which the pitches are located. The wooded terrain is home to 130 touring pitches. These pitches vary in size from 80 to 150 m2. The pitches for tents are truly magnificent.
Swimming and relaxing
Near the entrance of the camping site you will find a large, heated outdoor swimming pool (200 m2). There is also a separate toddler pool. Here you will find all kinds of colourful water-spewing animal figures. Around the swimming pool are some loungers and a few thatched sun umbrellas. Camping Airotel Oléron is less than 1 km away from the sea. This is also ideal for swimming and sunbathing.
Dining out and barbecue
Breakfast as well as fresh bread are available on this camping site. The camping shop stocks a limited range of provisions. The restaurant offers a wider choice. For a quick bite to eat you can head for the snack bar (with attractive saloon doors) and the pizzeria. Take-away meals are also offered. There is also a amiable bar.

Liked - Really good site with plenty of amenities and things for families/children. Adjacent to cycle track and great location overall for exploring the island
We have travelled for over 5 weeks with our 2 year old child and by far this is the worst site so far, basically if your not French and don\'t like drinking alcohol all day you will hate this site like we did. Live band playing till midnight drunken people near the pool just sitting drinking from lunch time onwards then getting louder as the day goes on sitting there with the owner/manager who didn\'t seem to care when we complained. I have never left a bad review of any site as of yet but be WARNED do not stay here. There are some lovely campsites other than this.
disappointed that the shop on site was closed
and the cafe and bar closed very early on the days it was open
good cycling area
Liked - General feel of campsite, the fact it is quite quiet, close to town but still felt very much like a campsite.
Disliked - Disappointed kids club was not accessible for English speakers or that horse riding was also a Challenge meaning parent had to stay for whole lessons. Should have been made clear on booking. The restaurant didn't open until 7 which seems quite late. Especially with small children.
Beautiful campsite. Big pitches, a lot of space. Toilet facilities were good. Staff was ok. Lovely island to visit.
The thing I didnt really like was the music from the camping bar which you could hear all night in your tent. In the camping 'rules' it says that it has to be silent after 10 pm (even dish washing after that time is not allowed) but the most noise (music/people singing and talking loud) actually comes from their own bar. One night it was so bad that I couldn't even read a book next to our tent.
Camping for us was about getting away from a crowded city to a place of calmth, so it didn't really feel like that. Do note that we only had a tent, so we had no sound isolation whatsoever. If you're going with a caravan (or if you like hanging out at a camping bar) you probably won't be bothered by it.
Lovely spacious pitches, tho when we camped most were still to be mown. Good toilet facilities but washbasins needed a bit of a clean up. Lovely pool area with bar and restaurant, which was open, but no bread available. Friendly staff. Nice walk into Chateau d'Oleron with a good range of shops and restaurants. Excellent daily market.
