In Loix, the smallest village on the Ile de Ré, island on the west coast of France, you'll find Flower Camping Les Ilates. This lively campsite is located between salt marshes and oyster beds, close to the Atlantic Ocean. Here, campers can take a dip in the large heated swimming pool with paddling pool, where water polo matches are held in high season. The summer months are full of fun anyway, as the entertainment programme is extensive.

This was our third visit in our caravan, 2 weeks in May 2018, 2 weeks in September 2018 and the whole month of September 2019. As usual everything was great - staff, sanitary blocks, pitch. One big problem though. We stayed till the site closed for the year on 29th not knowing there would be a party on the final night. Our pitch was quite near the restaurant and we were woken at 1.30am to the strains of “Ra Ra Rasputin” at full blast and the noise continued until 5am non-stop with us getting no sleep. We had to be up by 7am as we had a long drive home the next day. The office wasn’t open at 9am and staff turned up at 9.40. We have no problem with the staff celebrating the end of season, they work hard, but it would have been considerate to inform the clients (mostly older people) that this party would be going on. If we had known we would certainly have left the day before. It won’t stop us visiting as we love the area and site, but we will definitely not be there for the end of season party.

Liked - The relaxed feel and set up for young children
Disliked - The noise at night! We were VERY close to the restaurant/bar area and our children were kept awake till 11ish most nights. We couldn't be moved as it was fully booked!

Travelling party: Family with children, 4 – 12 years
Liked - Pool and location
Disliked - poo in the pool and the staff members inability to attend to it after 3 requests to have it moved, the late night entrance barrier opening even after complaints to the main office, 12- midnight, 2am 3am 4am "After 11pm the gate will only be opened in emergencies!" People talking and shouting on site...it's a site for families not rowdy teenagers and after 3 nights of lack of sleep it becomes a little annoying!
