Camping Le Suroit is situated on the sun-drenched island of Ile d'Oléron. Entertainment for children is organised on the campsite and the beach is within walking distance. In the restaurant, the brasserie or during an Atlantic Ocean seafood evening you can feast on the local delicacies. The beautiful island of Ile de Ré is situated just off the French coast near Rochefort in the Charente-Maritime region. To reach Camping Le Suroit, you have to drive over a 3 km overpass to the island.
The camping is situated on the western side of the island and is sheltered by the dunes. The partly shaded camping pitches are separated by natural vegetation. Mobile homes can also be rented on the camping. The Keywest mobile homes are the most luxurious. In fact, one can hardly call them mobile homes, but rather holiday cottages. Nice to know: the accommodation can be rented for a weekend or even for one night.

At a distance of some 600 m you will find the beach and, with the large number of sun hours per year in this region, it is ideally situated for swimming, sunbathing or lovely walks. Furthermore, the camping has a heated swimming pool with an open roof in summer and closed roof when the weather is less favourable. The slides and paddling pool for the little ones with play equipment are always in the open air.

Great pool and beach rock pools are fun but apart from that there is nothing here. Massive traffic jam to get off the island. Very crowded and loud music from bands until almost midnight. Couldn't wait to leave.
Just spend 2 great week at this site. All in all a fantastic site. Pitches are spacious, facilities are clean and well presented. Staff are great and very helpful. I can imagine the site would be very busy during peak times but in September, it was no more than a third full. Swimming pool was amazing and the beach is only 250 metres away.
A well equipped campsite, that had very friendly staff who spoke English. Good facilities, always clean, and shaded pitches. Direct access to the beach, which was part sandy and partly rocky when tide was out - good for looking in rock pools! Our dog enjoyed the freedom of the beach, and the site has a doggy shower too. The only problem is the pitch is dusty and full of bits and burrs, which inevitably stuck to the dog!
We stayed here for 18 nights and found it to be a good choice. Although it is a fairly large site it doesn't appear to be, and has a lovely ambience. Most pitches have sun/dappled shade at some point during the day.
There is a nice bar and restaurant (which is a little pricey) and take-away food, which was very good and reasonably priced. There is a dedicated flat cycle path directly outside the site, travelling in both directions.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, would definitely recommend.
This was our second visit to this site; it is excellent. Most pitches are flat and spacious. You can have shade or sun. The facilities are of a good standard and kept very clean. There is a very good swimming pool complex (which we didn't use, but others were using) and an excellent beach is right outside the gate, accessible without crossing any roads. We didn't try the restaurant, which looks quite expensive, but there are daily take-away dishes available at lunchtime. Our only negative comment concerns the monitoring of the entertainment which takes place on Wednesday evenings, when there is an "all you can eat" seafood buffet. The entertainer finished his set at 11 pm, which is an acceptable time, but the PA system was then left operating and some presumably drunken female decided to serenade the campsite with solo renditions of Abba hits, apparently at will, for what seemed like the next hour.
