In the heart of the Marais de Poitevin, near Magné, you will find the small family campsite Le Martin-Pêcheur. This is a good base for exploring the drained marshlands with their many canals, also referred to as La Venise Verte (the green Venice). You can do this, of course, in a special flatbottom boat or on foot. The Marais Poitevin is an unique nature reserve, in terms of size it is the second largest marshland area of France. Nature is still mostly unspoilt here. There are some 250 birds species in this marshy region. If you look very carefully, you may even spot a coypu.
You will be welcomed to a very well-maintained campsite, where you will be staying on a spacious, demarcated grass pitch. There are 57 spacious pitches perfectly shaded by beautiful trees. On this small scale campsite you can only camp, there is no rental accommodation. There is a communal room where guests can make use of the tables. This may be a bit more comfortable than sitting at your camping table.
Quick trip to Magné
You can buy basic necessities at the reception. In the village of Magné, some 300 m from the campsite, you can do your shopping in the supermarket, buy bread at the bakery and enjoy a meal in one of the restaurants.
Heated swimming pool
Just outside the campsite is a heated municipal swimming pool (250 m2). This is only open during the summer months. The swimming pool is freely accessible for camping guests. The Sèvres river is on the opposite side. You can take lovely walks along the river. There is a new playground for children.
