The village of Le Grand-Bornand lies in a fairytale setting in the French Alps, at an altitude of no less than 1,000 metres. Just south of this mountain village you will find Camping l'Escale. This campsite is located on spacious grounds at the foot of the famous Col de la Colombière, a renowned mountain pass in the Tour de France.

Views of high mountain peaks

At the beautiful campsite entrance, in the same building, are the restaurant, the swimming pool complex and the children's playroom. Behind the campsite you can see a hill with charming wooden mountain houses. The spacious site is divided into three fields with large pitches on a hard grass or gravel surface. The sanitary facilities are extremely clean and tidy.

Swimming indoors or outdoors?

Whatever the weather, great swimming is always possible at Camping l'Escale. The indoor pool is well heated and connects to the outdoor pool, which is located on a sunny terrace above the reception. The sun loungers around it invite you to enjoy a book, the view or just the peace and quiet.

Eating in a lovely atmosphere

Anyone entering the rustic restaurant 'La Ferme du Pépé' will feel instantly welcome. Campers can indulge in delicious specialties here. The village of Les Clusaz further down the road also offers good food. Or you could make your own summer meal at the campsite's barbecue and picnic area. Fresh bread rolls are available at the reception for breakfast. And don't forget to taste the local cheeses.

Disliked - Geen toilet brillen aanwezig. Sommige douchekoppen geven weinig water. Te weinig verharding op de plaats.

Disliked - Sanitair, plek naast zwembad gaf wat geluidsoverlast. Maar c camping was bijna vol, dus prima.

Liked - Omgeving was top, camping is ideaal gelegen, dichtbij dorp, dichtbij wandelroutes, goeie omgeving! Sanitair is verouderd maar op zich wel schoon, idem voor de speelzaal. Kinderen vonden het er heel leuk. Heel fijn zwembad.
Disliked - Sanitair is wel toe aan een update maar werd wel onderhouden. Watertemperatuur was lastig. Meermaals afwassen met koud water, douchen was ook altijd een verrassing of het warm of koud ging zijn. Gelukkig was het bij ons heel warm waardoor een frissere douche iet erg was.

Liked - Prachtige ligging, mooi opgezette camping, goede plekken, fijn en mooi sanitair (maar waar zijn de wc-brillen….?), mooi en prettig restaurant met vriendelijke obers,, sympathieke bakker in de ochtend en prima (wel ondiep) zwembad.
Disliked - Ontvangst door de 2 dames aan de receptie was zeer onvriendelijk en ongeïnteresseerd. De enige smet op een verder gelukkig erg fijn verblijf op een mooie camping met een perfecte locatie.

Disliked - Speeltuintje op de camping was niet geschikt voor kinderen onder de 4 jaar en lag helemaal verscholen dus ze konden er niet zelf naar toe

Liked - Prima camping, fijn restaurant, binnenzwembad voor de kids en speelruimte met tafeltennis, flipperkast, enz. Droogruimte voor ski's, skischoenen en was (wordt om 20.00 afgesloten, dan kan je er niet meer bij tot s'ochtends), wasmachine en droger. Vriendelijke mensen bij de receptie. Leuk sfeervol dorp op loopafstandmet winkels, restaurants enz. Koetsrit te boeken op het plein waar ook de skiverhuur en de toeristeninfo zit. Skigebieden in de buurt zijn erg leuk, veel langere afdalingen en van gebied naar gebied met de lift.

Disliked - Plekken zijn wel lang (onze dubbelasser kon er op), maar erg smal, je staat erg dicht op elkaar, diepe voortent past er nauwelijks tussen. Ons wintervoortentje ging overigens prima.
Sanitair ruimtes schoon, maar ik vond het minder prettig dat de het 3 kleine gebouwtjes zijn met in elk gebouwtje een 2 wc's en 2 douches en dat het voor mannen en vrouwen gemengd is.

Liked - De Camping was zeker in orde. Zeker de sanitaire voorzieningen en ook de voorzieningen voor het ski materiaal.
Disliked - Wat ik wel jammer vond is dat jullie de camping echt overvol hebben gezet met campers.
