It will be hard to find a more fabulous spot to pitch with jaw dropping views in every direction. Heavily sloping site made it hard to find a level and our pitch was just about big enough for our large caravan but not the awning. We realise it\'s unusual to be travelling with four small dogs but find it a bit of a rip off that they cost us an extra 50% of the pitch and two adults when there are no dog facilities anywhere you stay. The facilities were clean but very basic. Can\'t quite understand why but neither the staff or the campers seemed happy to be in such a wonderful place, our eighth stop this summer and it\'s the first time we have experienced that as everywhere else has been really friendly. In essence it\'s well worth a stay if only for the views but don\'t come with dogs as it\'s expensive and they have to be on a lead in the limited number of places that allow them any access in the Sixt Fer de Cheval Nature Reserve and dogs are not permitted in some of the Refuges (Samoens and Sixt are less strict with dogs and there is a lot of lovely walking to be done). The Tourist Information Office has a list of short walks and longer hiked that you can do with dogs.
Just returned from a marvelous 4 days/nights at Camping Le Pelly.
Fab welcome from Jean - Pierre and Anne who run the site brilliantly. Freshly baked bread and croissants delivered to your tent every morning, first morning with orange juice/butter/jam, what more could you ask for?
Well stocked bar, with food available - showers and toilets newly installed, really well maintained and clean - good!
With all this in place you can then relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery, and the walks - walks for everyone, with difficulty dependent upon your needs - this is a must visit area of France and a stay at a excellently run site where you are sure to be well looked after.
This evaluation has been obtained by our inspector from a questionnaire at the camp site.
Right at the end of a spectacular valley, totally surrounded by a Cirque of mountains, this is the most amazing campsite we have ever stayed at. Completely devoid of entertainment, swimming pool et cetera it means that only serious walkers, cyclists and people who enjoy nature will stay. At a very low price per night, it was also the best ever value. Fantastic views all around, superb walks and so on. The toilets and showers are basic but adequate. Bread delivered daily. An amazing find.
