We spent three nights here and loved it! There are two new young guys running it now, who were lovely. The camp site is very cute with the river running through it, very clean amenities. Not sure on kids stuff as we don\'t have any, but we would recommend this place to anyone especially if you want somewhere that\'s close to everything and not too commercial - it\'s a small piece of the real Germany/ Black Forest. Plus you still get two free beers! We will be back
The owner was very welcoming and gave us 2 free beers upon arriving. He also offered to order rolls for us. He was a real character and eager to please. He ran the restaurant and cooked for us some soup and chips and offered a salad bar which was nice. After he gave us a free drink. It was an interesting experience and made all the better by the owner who also shared with us information about himself and the surrounding area. Good experience !
We arrived on a wet and miserable day but were much cheered by the very friendly welcome we received. Two exceptional features at this site in particular. Firstly, the quality of food in the restaurant. Two dishes highly recommended - warm Black Forest fresh trout with cranberries and potato salad and roast venison in red wine gravy with Swabian spatzle (noodles), pear and cranberries. Both at very reasonable prices. An excellent menu is available for all tastes. The second feature is the quality of Wifi provided - the best we have experienced at any site in the last 40 days of traveling. It is free and unlimited - a real bonus and much appreciated. Other sites could learn from the approach taken here to internet use. General facilities are of high standard. They are excellent- very clean and well planned. A full range of local beers from Alpirsbach Brewery is an additional strength. Many congratulations to the owner.
We have spent four weeks here and despite the ground now being quite muddy, the facilities are still spotless. I am disabled and the facilities are excellent. I could get to town on my mobility scooter. The owner is friendly and very helpful and made phone calls to find answers for us when he didn't have the information.
The food he serves in the restaurant is of better quality, and is cheaper, than any of the meals we had when out and about.
Fresh bread, rolls and pretzels can be ordered up to 8pm the previous night and are available from 8 a.m. The shop has some essentials - which comes in handy when the town shops are closed. There also electric and gas barbeques available for use free of charge. No charcoal grills are allowed as it's a Nature Park. The washing up area also has a two plate gas stove and a microwave for camper's use.
The whole Black Forest is beautiful, with very wiggly, windy roads. Drivers are, generally, very courteous. Our favourite town was Triberg.
Very nice location, welcomed with a free choice of local beer, what could be nicer on a hot day? The food was wholesome and very reasonably priced. Our visit was not quite in the main season and we parked very close to the toilet blocks etc since we wanted an early start and we had no problems with smells or noise. Free WiFi was a big hit with us. We have no hesitation in recommending this as a friendly and well- organised site.
