We took a camper van space just outside the main camp but with access to all facilities. Enjoyed the restaurant, bus service very much. Would be great in a Summer.
A place we always stay when heading to Austria. First time it was to be two nights, but ended up being eight. The paddle boats on the lake is a must as you get the imposing view of Neuschwanstein castle.
The site was busy but well managed although the office staff could have been more friendly particularly when paying the bill, particularly when I noticed I was being charged for 24 kw of electricity for two nights. I have since written to the site but have had no response. They see to have salty meters on their electric points to make up for the free showers. Other than that , an excellent location
This site has the main camping site, of which there are several permanent pitches but there is also a small area at the entrance that works as a \'stellplatz\' for motorhomes which is cheaper and you are allowed to use all the facilities of the campsite. We stayed on the stellplatz as we went out of ACSI season. Its possible to swim in the lake which was lovely and it is easy access to Ludwigs castles. The stellplatz pitches had water, electric and waste at the pitch but are near the road.
Campingplatz Bannwaldsee is a large, lakeside campsite with a view of Neuschwanstein Castle, and situated on Romantische Straße, near the lovely town of Füssen.
The staff at Reception were friendly, helpful and efficient, and allocated us a pitch on the far edge of the site. The pitch did feel a little remote from the main facilities, but there was a small sanitary block close by with WCs. The main sanitary block, in the centre of the site, consisted of separate rooms for dishwashing, laundry, male WC, female WC, male showers, female showers, and chemical toilet. These rooms were spread over two levels, with toilets downstairs and showers upstairs. The facilities were clean, and paper and soap were provided.
As well as a restaurant/bar, which also sold pizzas etc, there was a marquis-type tent in which children\'s activities were organized. The site also rented out pedaloes, bikes, electric bikes and pedal carts.
The pitches were not massive, but large enough to be comfortable, and were a combination of stony soil and sparse grass. We found that it did get a little muddy in the rain, but the weather was awful when we stayed, so this may not be a fair statement.
The site was a little expensive compared to other sites with similar facilities, and was not our first choice in the area (our first choice had no vacancies), but we would be happy to stay here again in the future.
We were there for 2 days. Very good camping for visiting of great castles Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau. Very nice view to the mountains. Good restaurant with delicious foods. It's a place, where you can spend more time with hiking or just walking in the beautiful little towns. You must see it!
We arrived to this campsite after a long and hot day of travelling through Southern Germany. The welcoming was overwhelming with typical live Tirol bompa-bompa music - there was a summer party going on in the beer tent this very evening. Some might find the music disturbing, but we enjoyed the jolly atmosphere and after parking the caravan and put the children in bed, we could sit outside in the fresh air, children sleeping and enjoying the splendid view and Allgëu and beer from a little night open cafe just next to our spot. The camping pitch was very nice with a hedge, some trees, and close to the little beautiful lake. The toilet facilities were superb, fresh and well suited for families with children. There were a nice playground, clear, warm and shallow lake for bathing. We had a great day at the Neuschwannstein Castle, and all and all we liked the place so much we stayed an extra day to enjoy the atmosphere and beautiful surroundings. We'd be glad to come back!
We were not impressed by this camping as it is a 4 star camping the size of the camping spots are very small. The people running the camping don\'t seem to care about the quests and entertainment for kids between 7 and 18 is not available. The price we had to pay for this camping is pretty high for what think is more a 1 or 2 star camping.
