A scruffy site although clean, looks like a lot of long term residents.
I thought it was overpriced as it’s October!
Reception staff not very friendly either!
Great access in to the local town and köln, the public transport was handy and pleasant. Very close to the river Rhein and you can watch the boats pass including party boats. A visit to the cathedral in köln is a must we saw it during a goth convention it was very interesting!
Great views of the barges on the Rhine. We used the Park & Ride service to head into Cologne. Due to the "pitch anywhere rule" there was always the chance of being hemmed in but that was the only down side of this site.
Site on left bank of Rhine, south of Köln city centre. Free choice for pitch selection, so those piches near the river fill up first. Ground can be soft after rain although some hardstanding pitches are available for motorhomes. Gate from riverside path into campsite is kept unlocked, so security could be an issue. 500m walk to bus stop for journey to Rodenkirchen tram station for journeys into city. Limited access to drinking water taps out of season.
Nice campsite right on the Rhine. Great place to watch the barges go by. Very near the city. Can be walked in around an hour or there is a bus. Pitches at the river where we were were not marked out so when someone arrived, particularly a camper van, they tended to park too close. Toilet facilities good with plenty of hot water. Would stop again if in the area.
Very large commercialized place. Don't expect a warm welcoming and bicycle thief alert signs didn't help, either. But do have clean facilities and great view by the river.
This campsite was nearly in the city but you would of thought you were in the countryside! We parked right on the riverside, it was beautiful, what a view! Toilets extremely clean but the men's was closed, proverb lay because it was November and out of season but the men had to use the other ladies block. This was fine but it still stated 'Ladies' on the outside! Would definately recommend this site and would stay again.
Large site and a bit confusing as there are no marked pitches. Just pitch anywhere. You may need a long power cable. lots of seasonal caravans. The site is along the river.. There is a gate through to the river path but you need to get a card from reception. Showers are excellent with loads of hot water and are free.
The site is around 8 km from Cologne. You can walk along the river which takes almost 2 hours but it is flat and quite a pleasant walk. There is a bus apparently around 500 metres from the site that will take you to the train station to get into Cologne.
There is a hotel attached to the campsite and owned by the same people. It has a nice bar and restaurant. There is also a bar and beer garden but wasn’t always open. There is also a Thai restaurant about 5 minute walk which was excellent.
The town of Rodenkirchen is around 30 minutes walk from the site. It has decent shops and café’s . There is also a nice market on Saturday and a smaller one during the
