Beautiful location by the Rhine river, but with a zone left alongside the river to walk or cycle along. Plenty of excellent cycle paths nearby. Small Rhine ferry next to site, for further outings. Large hotel nearby which has a nice bar/terrace which campers can use, or there is the site's own little bar with great Rhine views. No wifi (at least, I don't think it has wifi). Nice friendly staff.
My family and i went there last week. It was great and staff was kind man. His name is markus and help us too much. Totaly the price is perfect and it is a perfect camping place.
Picturesque and peaceful site along the banks of the Rhine river. Very friendly and welcoming, English speaking, reception staff. They were also very informative about places of interest to visit. The amenities block had all the usual services and was always spotlessly clean. There is a bar/restaurant and it was nice to sit and relax while watching the boats glide along the river. We had rain on one of the days of our stay here, so we took the small ferry boat across the river and it was only walking distance to the tram stop where we took a tram to Dusseldorf. All in all we enjoyed our stay here very much and will be back for another visit.
The site was accessed via a river ferry crossing, not expensive, runs all the time and added some pleasure to the journey, although you can travel further and cross over via a standard bridge.
We spent 4 nights here, was to be 5, but decided after a very unnecessary (rude) response style to the gate opening rule by one of the male receptionists that we would not stay the 5th night.
Having said this, the site was clean, although was a little overcrowded at times, with lots of electrical leads running everywhere, i.e.; we had in excess of 6 leads literally running across the ground by the side of our caravan so it is likely you will need very long connector leads to stay here. We had to lend our lead to a german couple and use their shorter lead because of the way the electric points have been run.
Having said all of the above ( and we know a reply will follow, ... lol) the site is vast , in a lovely setting, the facilities clean, but of a porta cabin style which had metal 4/5 steps-up for access.
Its on the river, theres lots to see and do and the local villages are very scenic, bikes rides and good walks plentiful . You will be placed on a pitch exactly, there is a choice of 'front' or normal, front means you will pay a few euros extra to be water front, but that dosent always mean you will be able to see anymore than the unit behind you.
Please also remember that despite you holding a scan gate card to let you in and out, you will not have access via the gate ( so NO vehicles) between 1 and 3pm, regardless...
Overall it was nice stay but marred by a very over officious male site manager .
Stopped for 3 nights 21st Aug 2015 nice location very helpful reception staff. Great clean toilet and shower facilities nice outside bar with reasonable prices.
Only dissapointment is that food ordering from restaurant stops at 18.45hrs. Too early. Saying this.. will come again.
We stayed here on the banks of the Rhine for a couple of nights on the way north. Unfortunately the weather was very rainy and the site was very waterlogged, this was not helped by the long grass and pools on the road that we had to walk through on the way to the ablutions. I would imagine that with better weather this site could be attractive and given its location worth a visit.
This site takes Acsi card later than others as it is cycling distance away from the Dusseldorf Caravan and Motorhome Show the biggest of it's kind in Germany and which was on while we were there, this lead to overcrowding. One night we were surrounded by other units the closest being just 24" from our hitch point the furthest less then 6' away. We understand from others on site that this situation exists only during the show.
The toilet and shower facilities were plentiful and clean, and the staff friendly and helpful.
There are cycle tracks both sides of the river and with shops etc close the car can be abandoned for a while.
Wi-fi was available on our pitch but when you purchased time it had to be used in one period.
Not the most attractive site, however, we quickly adjusted to our surroundings and had a wonderful two days here. The reason it is not attractive is due to possible flooding in the winter period. The two toilet blocks are portable cabins however, they are imaculate inside lots of hot water plenty of space and good showers. The site has a small shop with the usual essentials on sale only. We were not aware until we arrived that they did not take Credit Cards, so one needs plenty of cash to pay for a long stay. Site prices were not the cheapest around, but the costs were more than justified by the site being on the banks of the Rhein. Plenty of activity on this busy site, watch the barges and ships, see the planes coming and leaving the Airport which is 4.4km from the site by ferry, or 20km by car useing the A44. We can't wait to revisit this site.
