Camping Hellas is situated on the Pilion peninsula, on the east coast of the Greek mainland. The Pilion is a mountainous area with high peaks where you can even ski in winter. There are also a number of bays and beaches. You will enjoy the environment!
Signposted footpaths lead you over the kalderimi (old donkey trails) to the mountain villages in the vicinity. However, spending a lazy day on the beach is also fun! Have a swim in the calm see or float in a boat on the deep-blue waters.
In the olive grove, on the beach
The camping site is actually one large olive grove. At the side of the beach, the surface is level, with spacious pitches in close proximity to, or sometimes literally by the beach. On the other side there are also spacious pitches, on terraces and under shady olive trees. Guests do not have to cross a road or pathway to get to the sandy beach and the sea.
Hellas is a quiet camping site, especially in the low season. However, during weekends in high season it may be somewhat busier because of the excellent restaurant popular with many people. There are typical Greek chairs to sit on and you will enjoy the scrumptious regional dishes, often prepared with fresh fish and seafood. The location of the restaurant, the terrace and the bar is very attractive: right at the beach.
The sanitary fixtures were partly renovated in 2017 and look nice and modern. An older section has also been earmarked for renovation.

In an olive grove, terraced down to the sea, 11 miles southeast of Volos (immediately before the larger Camping Sikia). Family-owned and run, the site has good facilities including washing machines. Reliable free WiFi throughout. In late October we got a pitch right on the shore of the bay by a narrow shingle beach. A new toilet/shower building is almost ready but there are no locks on the shower cubicle doors. There is also no provision to hang towels or clothes inside the new small cubicles, which means that campers have to undress and dress in the public area and leave their belongings there. Privacy, personal safety and security are surely more important than modern smoked glass doors? It is a short walk along a footpath into Kato Gatzea village, with tavernas, a bakery, pharmacy and mini-market. The site’s exit drive runs steeply uphill onto the busy main road, with blind corners in each direction – a road that is totally unsuitable and unsafe for cycling. The campsite restaurant/bar was open, though no longer serving meals. ACSI Card rate applied. Advised to phone ahead in mid-winter, when there are very few campers due to the colder weather, though it was warm enough for sea-bathing in late October.
Excellent campsite, really friendly owners, extremely obliging, put us on a lovely pitch near the disabled facilities. Camp is right on the beach, everything very clean, bread and other provisions available. Restaurant on site and you can get anything off the menu as takeaway. Free WiFi also.
Excellent camp site in a wonderful place by the sea. The staff is awesome. Toilets are super clean. Beach bar and restaurant by the sea with fresh delicious food and great cocktails.
Excellent amenities in a wonderful place. The site is ultra clean and the staff is wonderful. The bar and restaurant by the beach are awesome.
We enjoyed the beach with all day shade. The sea is quiet and perfect for kayaking early in the morning. The camping is well organised with friendly personal and clean places (toilets, camping, restaurant, beach).
Good tavernas in the arean including that of the camping.
Helpfull personal. They heped me find a mechanic when I had problems with the car and it was repaired the same day.
It worth mention, to understand the frendiness of the place, that there were many people with disabilities on the beach integrating the others.
We really enjoyed the stay!
Nice cosy campsite with large restaurand and just renovated men\'s bath. staff is very friendly, price is worth of stay.
Very well run camp.
Stayed here in August 2017, probably the warmest welcome we have ever had a a campsite. The friendliness of all the staff was exceptional. The facilities were Fantastic. The narrow but wide coarse sandy beach has shade & a shower. The pitches were level, generous & mostly shady, all had electric & most had water too. The restaurant was great with good food at reasonable prices. The bar was superb & right beside the beach for refreshments after a swim!
There was some traffic noise on the higher terraces but we still slept well.
We had four nights here but would loved to have stayed longer. It's a short walk via the beach path to the next village & the area of Pelion is well worth exploring too. Volos is only 30 minutes away by car.
I definitely would recommend Camping Hellas.
An excellent camping site. Good sized pitches with electricity and views over the beach. Very quiet in winter but owners are helpful and friendly and always around the site. Wifi is free and very fast. The village is just a few minutes walk along the beach, bakery, good mini market and several tavernas. This is a brilliant site and we recommend it.
