A very convenient site for Cinque Terre and Portofino. Strange location but don’t be put off by that. The facilities are old but very clean. Plenty of hot water. Restaurant on site but you need to reserve
We agree with the other positive comments here - a pleasant, well-run site with friendly & efficient owners who obviously take a pride in their site. As other reviewers say, don’t be put off by the approach & follow the Acsi instructions to avoid the low bridges! - & the small amount of road noise is of little consequence. There are a mix of pitches here, some grass, some gravel & a number of statics; all pitches are level & several have their own cold water sinks. There are no views to speak of but you really stay here for the locality - it’s only a short-(ish) walk / bike ride for the bus, the station, the coast & the town / supermarkets.
Everything is kept neat & tidy; sanitary facilities (accessed directly from the outside) are clean & plentiful. Wi-fi is free. The restaurant looked good, but was closed at the time of our visit. We recommend this site & would happily stay here again.
lovely pitch toilets clean lots of hot water road noise not an issue good location easy cycle walk to town
Ok for an overnight stop as site is just off the motorway. Pitch was a good size. Facilities are basic but clean. The advertised restaurant is only open on weekends in early season.
The campsite is at the back of the town and it is a short 15 minute cycle down to the beaches or there is a bus stop close by. The train station is 10 minutes away and has a direct route the the Cinque Terre - a 30 minute journey away.
The campsite and facilities are kept very clean and tidy, plenty of hot water with the added bonus of sinks on some pitches. Following the road signs the site is easy to find - as the advice says, don't use sat nav as there is a very low bridge to contend with.
The site is very close to the motorway but the noise was not an issue.
The staff were helpful and spoke good English.
We would definitely return here.
Wonderful stay, loved it all. Danilo, the Camping Manager is gorgeous, such a friendly host. The site is beautiful, and we fell in love with the area. Will come back next year for sure. Loved it all. Thank you Danilo, and we loved your pizzas too!
I was so disappointed by this site having read previous reviews and had rejected others to come here. It is basic! The owners were only around for a short period each day so no chance to find out if they were friendly. In fact had to make sure we caught them to pay and retrieve our ACSI card. The pitch was adequate but no views - other than of the toilet block. Facilities were clean but nowhere to put things in the showers without getting wet. Contrary to other reviews you could hear the motorway although not obtrusive. Good point was the price - no extra for tourist tax.
I was slightly dubious of using this site and this was increased when I got there going under motorway bridges and through some commercial sites but when I arrived and was greeted so warmly by the owner I felt a lot happier. During my 3 week trip this year I did stay at bigger, grander sites with excellent views but this site won my heart and will definitely be visited again. The site is mainly made up of permanent caravans and there were very few vacancies even in late May so I was pleased to ring up the day before to be told if I got there by 12 there would be a place for me. The pitches are large and gravelled although you do feel packed in it is very popular. The advantage of this site is the closeness to Sestri Lavante and the nearby coast which is outstanding and those using the site must take some boat cruises up the coast, tickets being sold in reception with the owner's father driving you to the dock for a very minimal charge. The toilets are rather old but were spotlessly clean and the restaurant open then at the weekend only was very popular and always full. One word of warning DO NOT follow the directions of your Sat Nav as I lost my TV aerial going under a very low bridge. The ACSI book points this out and tells you to follow the campsite signs, and expensive lesson learnt by me
This site should be described as rustic but charming. It was the busiest site we have been to out of season and this is because it's 2km walk to the train station and from there you can get to Santa margherita to go to portofino or the other way the cinque terre. It is an odd route to get to it and you wonder where you are going and consider turning round as you pass under the dark motorway underpass but keep going and the site is lovely. Good clean sanitary facilities, showers with no timers.. Our first in 37 days of travelling! Would recommend to visit this coast line by train. Owner very helpful.
We are two Chinese Canadians just finished 40 days tent camping trip around Europe. What a trip and now we looked back at all the campgrounds we stayed... wow... none of them are the same! Very few campgrounds we stayed for more than one night; Berlin, Paris, Rome, Venice, Praha, for obvious reason. But, this Fossa Lupara we stayed for two nights :) The place isn't big but it's so friendly, well laid out and relaxing. WiFi is free, water hot and in huge volume. Pitches are shaded, flat and in fine gravels. We arrived late at 10pm and Danilo showed up before I hang up the phone literally. The young man speaks fluent English and learnt the Chinese greetings in 20 seconds. He even helped me pay for a Italian parking ticket :)
Come to see Danilo !!!
