Camping site Barco Reale is a stone's throw away from the village of San Baronto, in Northern Tuscany. Pistoia, acclaimed cultural capital of Italy in 2017, is also in the vicinity of this camping site. Pine trees and oaks provide a lot of shade. As a result the pitches have ample privacy. The region is verdant and hilly and the nearby villages are all full of charm. There is plenty to do on the camping site. Highlights are the swimming pool (with a view of the extensive valley) and the restaurant.
Camping and renting
The camping site is located on a hilly piece of land, but everything is well organised and practically laid out. You can bring you own camping equipment or rent one of the forty camping site's accommodation units. For instance, you can opt for a fully equipped mobile home, bungalow tent or luxury glamping tent.
Entertainment for the whole family
At camping site Barco Reale an enthusiastic entertainment team offers a varied programme in high season. The evening performances are recommended for the entire family, as are the other musical and cultural activities. Sports can be played on various fields and small children are certain to enjoy the playground.
There are also ample excursions on offer in the beautiful region. For instance, guided walking tours to a local olive mill or bus tours to Florence. You can also go on lovely walks and cycling trips directly from the camping site.
Dreamlike swimming pools
The three swimming pools are found on the perimeter of the camping site. There is a large shallow pool for children as well as a small pool of approx. one metre deep. The focal point is the enormous (270 m2) pool with a splendid view of the valley with its peaceful Tuscan rural life.

Ci siamo trovati benissimo!!
A good campsite made better by excellent helpful staff. The site is on top of a mountain so beware acess is by well surfaced but steep winding main road. Pitches vary in size and quality so look first. Camp manager could not be more helpful as she wizzes around in her golf buggy.
Near perfect campsite set under Italian oak trees and conifers, on top of a mountain. Well mixed touring and static pitches. Well shaded but beware different size pitches and accessibility with caravan or motorhome: do not necessarily accept the pitch offered at reception as some are difficult. Pitches are colour-coded according to size on the map given at reception. You are guided towards your allocated pitch but staff are happy to find another one for you! Outstandingly helpful information staff who go out of their way to find what you need. Restaurant not open at lunch time during our visit mid-September and more expensive at night. Try simple, quaint but excellent little restaurant across the entrance at very low prices serving freshly cooked meals. Would recommend this campsite without hesitation.
We had a wonderful experience at Barco Reale in June 2014. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, especially Antonio (the waiter) and the girl in the Information booth. The swimming pool and area were marvelous with a gorgeous view and a Gelato stand right by. The restaurant had great food and service. The campsite had bus trips to some of the more popular tourist areas, like Florence. The only negative we experienced was ants. They were everywhere in the camping pitch. They didn't sting, but swarmed over all food and crumbs. We learned quickly how to secure our site from their invasion. But even that did not mar our lovely stay at this campsite. I highly recommend it.
One of the best campsites we have stayed on in Italy. Good size pitches. Lovely surroundings and super swimming pool. The road to the campsite has a lot of hairpin bends and the last one to the campsite road is really difficult being hairpin and on a hill, we managed it with our 7.2 metre caravan and it was well worth the effort as the campsite is truly lovely.
Wonderful staff. Veronica on the information hut is lovely. Paolo in the restaurant is friendly and helpful. These staff members are a credit to this camp!!!! Nice area and atmosphere.
This is a very good camping placed on beautiful place. The Toilet facilities are first class and are kept very clean. Nonetheless I have to give them the lowest qualifications because the lighting works with an automatic system, which is activated when you cross the door of the facilities; that makes it work during five minutes and after that you should get out of the shower and activate it again by crossing the door. That means that you have to take your shower in the deep dark. We made a complaint to the staff but we didn’t get any solution. It is a pity because the sanitary facilities are superb.
Dear Mr. de Pablo, we have read your feed back and we thank you for letting us know about the problem of the lights in the showers. We are sorry that our staff hasn't informed us immediately and we apologize about it. Anyway we have solved the problem and we hope to have you as guest again next year. Kind Regards Marziale Cosci
