Large site in pine trees, north of Sagres. Be prepared for long walk into town unless you have your own transport. 6 amp electricity.
The campsite has made a lot of improvements this year, with the addition of swings and a slide for the children.
There has been a new wifi installed which is available in a more wider area and never goes off. New washing machines have also been put in place as the older ones were always breaking down.
I do think the bar should be open longer June to the middle of September is just not long enough as there would be plenty of people wanting to use it. No complaints at all the toilets do need knocking down but that would cost a lot of money. All the staff have been wonderful as always this summer.
This campsite is well worth a visit. It is near to the town of Sagres and the historical sights of the fortress and the most South Easterly point of Europe. The site is set in a lovely pine forest with lots of wildlife. The reception staff were extremely efficient and helpful. The shower blocks are dated but spotless with hot adjustable showers. The campsite was quiet when we stayed but I would recommend for the location, the scenery and the helpful staff.
This is our 3rd year at the campsite, the toilet and shower blocks need knocking down and rebuilt, although they have been clean 3 times a day this summer, the bar is now only open 9-5, evenings would surely be better for campers turning up, the wifi router keeps going off so has to be reset very often. Also a warning to future campers, there is now a lot of geese, ducks and a cockerel in the field next door making so much noise all throughout the day and night.
Already been there in 2012. Nice campsite with fair/good facilities clean and working but somehow oldfashioned and in need of some refurbishing. Staff kind and helpful - English spoken by reception people only, cafeteria working hours unexpectedly short. Many pitches quite windy. Portuguese coffee very good and cheap.
Visiting in March I was surprised that the camp was so empty as I had seen loads of Campers in the vicinity during the day. I arrived late afternoon, but soon discovered my error. The toilet blocks were as stated beyond redemption. No hot water to wash with and when I flushed the urinal I was soaked by leaking pipework. Not only no toilet paper but no seats either. When I queried why the staff stated I was much more hygeinic not to have them. By next summer I expect all the toilets to be removed as that would be even more hygenic.
Good welcome. Internal road system surface appalling. Not a problem for a 4x4 but for a normal road going vehicel not easy. Toilet blocks way past their sell by date. No hot water for washing or washing dishes. No toilet paper supplied. A request was made in each wc cubicle not to put toilet paper down the wc pan, but place it in a bin beside the pan. I found it offensive to use a bin with others soiled toilet tissue in it.
We visited in February, God knows what the smell would be like in high summer. Not a site we would visit again.
