Nice site, Easy to get to. Once off motorway follow the signs not your GPS If you\'ve one like mine it will try and take you through town. You do not want to do that.
Well laid out pitches, mostly with a hedged boundary. Arrived mid Oct the site is almost empty. Bar restaurant pretty good for food. Check portion sizes, mine was massive, you can have half portions.
The showers are good and modern. The bus ride to Porto is an experience in itself, and well worth. Airport near by but the noise is not really noticeable. Its not a busy airport and shuts from 10-6. Quite warm still in shorts and t-shirt.
I would struggle to stay here again. We even left a day earlier than planned. We camped in the wood area. After avoiding some dog mess we struggled to find flat ground. Areas were level but had pit holes in them. When the sun came up there was a lovely fresh feel in the woods. The restaurant offered reasonable food at a very good price. For the price it was good, but not an outstanding meal. Staff did all they could to help us and make our stay enjoyable. They certainly made up for the unpleasantness of the site.
We had not realised we would be sleeping under a flight path. Maybe our mistake and something we could have coped with, but the constant barking of local dogs throughout the night drove us mad.
While staying there we took the bus into Porto which took 1.5 hours and took us to the very heart of the old town. The wider area of Porto was bland so not an interesting ride. We took a taxi back for 25 euros.
Our second Orbitur site and pleasantly surprised with the lovely swimming pool and toilet faculties here. Very efficient reception, with good English speaking, pleasant and helpful staff.
This is a popular site for walkers doing the Camino. The restaurant did a very good three course meal with a drink and a coffee for €12 or €9 if you are a walker. In early June there was a reasonable choice of pitch, although some very rutted and wifi only accessible within a certain distance of reception. Many static mobiles and caravans shut up for the season. The nice beach is a ten minute walk, and just further down are all the local fishing boats. There are a couple of supermarkets a few km away, as the campsite shop only supplied basics. The bus stop right outside the site and for €1.60 it\'s a decent, entertaining one hour ten minute trip into the city which was wonderful. A good trip out to Guimaraes, perhaps and hours drive.
This evaluation has been obtained by our inspector from a questionnaire at the camp site.
This is a site in transition. There is a hard core of permanent pitches which occupy the best pitches close to the restaurant, pool, wi fi etc. There is a section of \"bungalows\" which seems to be the way the site is heading and finally there is the overgrown scrubland reserved for the transitory population such as us The toilet blocks were serviceable but in dire need of updating. The shower stalls were so small, my shoulders almost touched both walls at once. The site was relatively quiet at night. The reception and pool staff were friendly and helpful. There is a fantastic rocky coastline and beach within walking distance and there is an adequate general store close by.
We were adventurous and ate at a restaurant over the road. If you walk through the \\\"working mens caff\\\" bit at the front, there is an area with a more restauranty feel at the back. The staff have virtually no English (nor French nor Spanish) so hand gestures were used to order. If you get past these obstacles,
The location is great, just a short walk to the beach! Also the people working on the front desk are very nice and also tri/bilingual as we travelled with French friends and they also spoke good English, also the beautiful city of Porto is a 45 minute bus journey away which comes hourly from just outside the campsite, which is very handy.
The people we met were very friendly, and also the facilites and tent (small house haha) was very good for the price we paid for the week!
I rate this 8/10.
A great base for getting into Porto. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The beach is just a 5 minute walk away. The restaurant is very good; serving great food which the locals also use. There're plenty of water taps and bins emptied frequently. The camp site also has good laundry facilities and shop on site. Security guard on duty throughout the night as well as security barriers on entry make this campsite feel very safe.
A very nice site which has nicely kept and clean facilites. There's also a helpful reception staff and a lovely restaurant. There are friendly people and a good fish market in Lavra. The surrounding countryside and the beach are relatively unspoilt and great for walks.
Excellent site for Porto Exhibition Halls. Easy access from main roads. Close to village with shops. Restaurant on site excellent value for money. Friendly staff. Pitches ok, free placements. Beware beach: used by local fishermen; not clean enough to sunbathe. Not very suitable for walks with dogs.
