You would ask yourself why you would choose a camp site so crowded with campers so tightly squeezed together, when a few miles from the coast you can be in beautiful surroundings on this peaceful campsite.
Sierra Maria offers stunning scenery, wonderful walks and challenging biking.
We saw a dozen birds of pray and lots of wildlife from the site.
The owners couldn\'t do more for us. We enjoyed a nice lunch at the cafe.
The toilet facilities are as good as any we have seen this trip .
The town of Velez Blanco is worth a visit, the castle and the views are stunning.
Visited this site in September but bar and restaurant were closed which was disappointing. Pitches were large and spacious and well laid out. Toilet facilities were fine, very clean but only 4 showers which might be an issue if the site had more people staying. Lovely walks and nearby town which is 6km away looked nice but we only drove through it. We would use again.
Very few vans here in January. A bit cold at night but lovely during the day. Beautiful surroundings with great walks and cycling on the doorstep. The staff are enthusiastic, friendly and helpful. There\'s a good restaurant on site which was very busy at the weekend with locals. People need to be a bit more adventurous and try this lovely site in the winter.
Excellent location. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good food at the bar and very modern facilities. The toilet and shower blocks are cleaned 3 times every day and are spotless. A lovely girl comes at weekends to do activities for the children. Can\'t recommend highly enough. We will definitely be back again soon.
This is a fabulous site, set among the trees, newly re-furbished and re-opened (7/15) under very keen and enthusiastic new management.
Super Pool and great Restaurant.
A real get-away spot, and heartily recommended!
This campsite was re-furbished and re-opened under new young and enthusiastic management in June 2015.
Excellent facilities in a beautiful and peaceful wooded location.
I can only echo the previous reviewers comments. This site was amazingly quiet yet is in such a fantastic area. We sat watching gryphon vultures soaring above. The road was easy to cycle on into Marie if you need shops etc, although they kindly fetched bread for us each day. Lovely people. A site to return to.
This is a fantastic camp site, don\'t be put off when you arrive if like us, you can\'t find anyone in the reception, just stroll up to the bar area and you will find Ivan, who is one of the most friendly site managers I have ever met - he\'s desperate to learn English, and takes every opportunity to learn from the guests!
The site itself is situated in the sierras, with great walks and bicycle rides very close by. The facilities are scrupulously clean, and the showers amongst the biggest we\'ve come across.
The pitches are very large and have a good choice of shade/ no shade.
Just a short walk from the campsite is a superb restaurant - try the lamb - which is not only delicious but reasonably priced and served by really friendly staff/ owners.
The only downside is that it is quite far out if you have to shop for food (there is a small Dias in Maria) but we\'d recommend you stock up before you arrive.
Best site so far on our adventure.
There is a real feeling of wilderness here, surrounded by oak and pine trees. Come well supplied as the town isn\'t walking distance and there isn\'t any form of shop. Excellent shower facilities, nice pool and friendly helpful staff. No Wifi.
What a gem of a site. Good size pitches, beautiful surroundings, excellent toilet/shower block. Only stayed 1 night en route but will try to get back for longer stay even though its off my usual route.
