A difficult review to write as previous reviews are somewhat overrated and we were disappointed. The area itself isn’t the greatest and whilst first impressions were favorable unfortunately the place didn’t live up to expectations. Our pitch referred to as a ‘super pitch’ on our invoice was cramped with no room to sit outside unless you were happy to sit with your feet on the road. The pool was small given the number of pitches and whilst the toilet facilities were better than many sites maintainence was an issue particularly in the ladies, shower drain covers were missing in all but two of the stalls and there were also doors missing locks. Whilst being prepared to accept such matters at other less developed sites it is not acceptable given the inordinately high fees charged here. Needless to say we will not be returning.
Lovely campsite. Toilet facilities great, very clean. Staff very friendly. Food in restaurant ok. Wi-if terrible, ok if you go up into the bar. Swimming pool very small. In a lovely position, right on a shingle beach. Great for dog walking. 5 minute stroll to old Spanish village Castillo, with some nice tapas bars, and 10 minute stroll to Duquesa port. Would definately recommend.
Stayed whole of Dec 16. Should be a good site as only 4 years old but owners not continuing to invest/ maintain standards . This is shown in general upkeep of facilities. Shower blocks which are relatively new are rusting, flooding & needing some tlc. Bar and restaurant ok but food only average and quiz night is just a money making exercise. No wifi on pitches around sides of site. Good location for port and restaurants. Disappointing overall for price charged.
As an introduction to camping in Spain this was great. Very clean facilities, helpful staff, close to the beach and a short walk into the nearby town of Manilva...a lovely start to our Spanish tour and we will definitely revisit in the future..
Excellent campsite, the toilet, showers, resturant and bar tick all the boxes, some of the long stayers advised that it was noisy at the weekend but during our 2 week stay it was nothing to complain about, we will be back next year. It is ideal for cycling and visiting the local area, Gibraltar is a must visit.
Excellent site. You really get what you pay for. Nice big pitches. Excellent showers and toilet. Very good restaurant. Easy access to beach, great for walking the dog. Nice beach bars. Some road noise. Recommended. Muy bueno.
This is a beautiful landscaped campsite with excellent swimming pool and restaurant. The main 340 road is very dangerous for cycling.
Feral cats are being fed/encouraged by long term campers and roam freely despite notices forbidding this.
They enter the toilet block at night and some campers allow them into their vans and awnings.
The site is well located adjacent to the beach and within easy walking distance of the small harbour. Some of the pitches are unacceptable, one even has a tree in the middle of it!! The site roads are narrow and turning any large Motorhome or car/caravan combination will prove a challenge. The shower/toilet facilities are excellent. Staff helpful. Food in the restaurant a bit hit and miss. Frozen veg ( in Spain!!!). All in all a good site but has some negative points in terms of pitch size and suitability.
A very good site that is sloping in every direction. Access to the pitches is restrictive and large outfits will have problems. The staff are professional and competent with assistance given for every request. The restaurant , however is a disaster with bad food, stretched service and sad old stock that is badly tarted up. The bar is similar, poor stocks of badly chosen beverages will make it no more than a one off visit, all of this is a shame because the restaurant and bar Facilities are well chosen and maintained.
The adjacent beach is dark large grains of sand with a good walk and cycle way nicely planted and maintained for many kilometres. The nearby Port Duquesa is a lazy 20 minutes stroll with banks, supermarkets and a wide choice of middle to lower market restaurants and bars. The swimming pool of the campsite is clean, well maintained and has spacious areas around it with a fair amount of shade.
Great site, clean and tidy. Some campers can be a bit fussy. Food excellent with special nights. Pool not open during our visit but sea available 50m away. Ideal for Gibraltar, cheap fuel, fags and spirits, the max we had to wait to cross was 1 hour in 2015. Happy hour to get you started. Beach gritty, but nearby beaches sandy so you only need to do a bit of exploring. Good hire car company @ Brunos at nearby port office. Fresh bread at shop daily, Lydl nearby. Pitches accomodated our 7.5m motorhome, car trailer and car, with room for the awning. What more do you want - enjoy.
