In central Spain, just south of Madrid, lies Camping Internacional Aranjuez. It is in a central location, convenient for exploring the versatile region. The Rio Tajo river, which flows behind the camping site, is located between the enormous park of the Royal Palace of Aranjuez and the camping site. It is a 30-minute walk to this most important landmark of Aranjuez. The capital can easily be reached by public transport.

Shade and comfort

There is definitely a suitable pitch for each camper on the camping site. There are three different types of pitches in terms of size, on a surface of grass or pebbles and demarcated with hedges and vegetation. When you enter the camping site, the comfort pitches can be found on the right hand side of the grounds. The level of shelter on the touring pitches is variable as is the presence of a private tap. There is a separate street with twenty wooden bungalows suitable for 5 persons. The camping site also has 10 rooms available for rent.

Fun in the water

The swimming pool complex consists of three beautiful pools. The shallow children's pools are equipped with nice play equipment and several slides. After a city visit it is a great place to relax in the sun or in the shade. From your easy chair it is only a few steps to the nearby bar. At times during the summer months some entertainment is offered near the pool during the day. The lifeguard keeps an eye on the children and is in charge of the First Aid post.

Margaret Williamson's review below says it all really. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon which was the end of the Halloween weekend, there were only four empty pitches, two hours later there were over fifty! Site is now deserted apart from a few stopovers. Good walk into town around the footpath as dogs not allowed in the park. Excellent ablutions. Good stopover site or maybe a bit longer. Site let down by very expensive wifi. Didn't bother!

A great site for visiting the town of Aranjuez, a short walk away through the beautiful gardens of the palace. Situated along side the river and on a side road, the site is quiet and well kept. The reception staff were extremely helpful. You can order bread and croissants from the well stocked shop. All facilities were excellent including the swimming pool. Plenty of pitches of varying size, most with water. The barman made the perfect gin & tonic!

Fabulous site. Staff very helpful, perfect English. Superb facilities block, always spotless. Plots suitable for tents although not much grass. Very good supermarket on site with reasonable prices. Location perfect for walking to the gardens, palace etc. Recommended and would stay again.

An excellent well-managed site, 15 minutes’ walk through the park to the centre of Aranjuez. The spacious hedged pitches all have water and drain.
The Reception team speak English and could not be more helpful. They directed me to the nearest caravan dealer (10 miles away in Sesena, half-way to Madrid) after phoning him to check that the 2017 ACSI Card book was in stock. Another camper needed a vet, others wanted a Ford dealer to fix their motorhome – all requests handled with a smile.
The toilet/shower block that was open was very warm and clean; a second block is being fully renovated. Good laundry, with 2 washers and 2 driers. The camp shop is closed but bread can be ordered. There is a large market hall in Aranjuez, open daily, with cafes and a small supermarket at its centre. Also a Lidl store and butcher’s less than 2 miles away along the Madrid road.
WiFi is available at 4 euros a day, with cheaper deals for 3 or 7 days, and works well everywhere.
The restaurant/bar is open daily except Tuesdays, with a good choice including an excellent 3-course Menu del Dia, and there are several restaurants in Aranjuez. And there is the Royal Palace to visit for a fee (or free of charge on Wed and Thurs from 3-6 pm). A little tourist train runs into Aranjuez from the campsite at 10.30 am daily (no charge), returning at 6 pm (or walk, or get a taxi!)
In winter, most campers pass briefly through but I found it a good place for a longer break, with mild weather and much less crowded than the campsites on the Spanish coast.
The only disappointment is that cycling is forbidden in the park (the Prince's Gardens), which would be the ideal way to explore it.

We stayed 2 nights on this site on our way south and will definitely return The facilities, pitches and campsite are good- wifi expensive. Staff friendly and helpful. Good restaurant/bar with friendly staff serving a excellent menu del dia. You can walk into the town via a very nice park or by road.

Stayed here in January so site was quite quiet but a flow of overnighters early evening. Pitches are flat and vary in sizes with water close by most. Reception staff were very friendly and helped us book a vets appointment for the following day. Toilet block we used was clean and very warm. Had a beer in the bar which had a lovely fire place and took out a takeaway meal.
Site is a 40min walk to the town with the palace and gardens to visit. Not sure what it would be like in high season, plenty of kids stuff here too. Shame that some pitches had long long term residents who made some parts scruffy. Overall though we'd go back.

This is a well run, clean and very popular site. Even on 1st September it was bust with families. It has a good restaurant/bar, nice large flat plots with shade and lovely pools. All went very well until we were woken at 10.30pm by the start of the loud and noisy musical event in the bar. Although we weren't on a plot close to the bar the loudspeakers made it quite uncomfortable for a couple of hours.I presume/hope this only occurs during the school holidays. We only stayed one night on a stopover. Wifi is expensive.

Aranjuez is a hidden gem, and the site's a great place to explore it from. Catch the 10.30am free mini train ride into town, or take a 20 min walk through delightful shaded gardens. Palaces definitely worth seeing - blown away by Royal boat museum, but get your ticket at the main palace, also fantastic. Great indoor market in town, with choice of bars and tapas etc. On the site itself, Wifi reasonable throughout. Pitches vary in size (you're allowed to choose) but we chose one at a distance from busy pool and bar, which was perfect. Clearly an ideal site for families with children, and pool and play areas were well maintained and designed. Several lifeguards on duty (I counted 4 at one point). Toilet facilities were good, cleaned twice daily whilst we were there. Staff were helpful and friendly, particularly lady in the shop and the children's entertainers. Reception staff very helpful and plenty of info. Perfect base for exploring Madrid direct 50min train into heart of the capital. Would definitely visit again.

We stayed here 2 years ago, when the restaurant was excellent - it still is! We don't know what the previous reviewer chose, but the menu of the day at 10.95 a head for three courses with a bottle of wine between two people included in the price, was excellent. As was the service.
The site is a bit scruffy round the edges, but when it is -4C at night the very well heated toilets and showers (spotless) are a godsend. With helpful staff and beautiful surroundings, what is there not to like about this site?!
There have been major roadworks since our last visit and the signage is now incorrect. Fortunately we knew where to find the camp site, but you could end up going round and round the town. As you come off the main road you will see Camping and straight on. Keep straight until you come to a traffic island and La Rana Verde restaurant in front. It says here to go straight on, but you can't. Go right, then first left, and first left again. This will take you in front and then past Rana Verde, Continue straight on and follow the signs from there. Sounds complicated but it is very simple. Good luck!

Great site, facilities could do with an upgrade, but overall a really good site and well worth a stay. The Town is a hidden gem, Royal Palaces, Gardens, worth a visit. Staff are very helpful all speak perfect English.
Restraunt; on the other hand is well worth a miss, bar is ok, eat in town better food & far better value. worst meal I've eaten in Europe!!
