Camping Altomira is situated between the Espadán and Calderona nature reserves, some 25 km from the Mediterranean and an hour's drive from the fascinating city of Valencia. It is a quiet spot from where you can venture anywhere. From the camping site there are wonderful walking and cycling routes over paved trails.
The steep, terraced camping site offers reasonably large, beautifully laid out pitches on compacted gravel. On the lowest section you will find many permanent pitches, as well as most of the facilities. Rental accommodation units (bungalows) are located on the middle section. On the top section, campers have a splendid view of Navajas and the surrounding area. The pitches here are demarcated with hedges and are sheltered by an artificial sunroof.
Nice swimming pool
There is a lovely swimming pool with separate toddler pool (depth 50 cm) surrounded by sun loungers. It is a wonderful area to relax in the shade of the pine trees.
Walking along former mining routes
Children can play to their heart's content on a play area and sports field. Furthermore, there is an entertainment programme in high season. There are also excursion programmes and guided walks. Starting from the camping site are some great walking and cycling routes over the so-called 'camis verdes', paved trails on former narrow-gauge railway lines used for mining. There is a bicycle workshop for campers with their own bicycle. Very handy when your push-bike has to be repaired.
There is an excellent restaurant with limited menu (daily menu) where you can also eat delicious paella for a very reasonable price. Daily fresh bread is available. There is a supermarket at a distance of only 4 km. There are a few barbecues on the camping site.

Yet another great site, the staff a the location on a via verde is perfect well worth a visit. The views from the pitch could be charged extra for!
Campsite staff are very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. They run a well stocked shop, which was really helpful as most shops in town seemed closed. The washroom facilities are very good and very clean. The site is a great base for some good walking and cycling and has good views over the town. Navajas is an interesting little town with some wonderful villas and impressive waterfalls.
My Wife and I had to return home rather quickly in Febuary this year due to family illness at home, our then car would not go up the steep entrance,, The Staff were absolutely wonderful and found us a pitch we could get to, I would like to thank them very much for their help, we have stayed at this site before and always enjoyed the experience Chris & Elaine Kelly
We had planned this as a 1 night stop, well we stayed 7 nights. After reading previous reviews we considered it as a night over but found a little gem! Yes, the access to the pitches can be difficult due to the kerbs but I managed with our TA 8m caravan without a mover. One of the reviews complained the chemical toilet emptying point was far from the touring pitches, there was one at each of the heated toilet blocks, but positioned by the washing up sinks a rather unusual place. The touring area is at the top of the terraced site, views were stunning. The Via Verde, an old railway track that is now a cycle/walk way passes the edge of the site and goes for miles in both directions. The local town has a few shops, a bar or two and a walk that has waterfalls. There was a better supermarket at Jerica, 5 miles of easy cycle along the Via Verde. Reception staff very helpful, site walking distance from station and Valencia return was 8.75€.
planed to stay a couple of nights but loved it here and stayed 6. refurbed touring pitches with services including own sink. toilet block heated and hot showers. bar/rest very good and excellent food. 3 course menu in week. Navajas small town 10 min walk as is train to Valencia. great cycle opportunities on quiet roads or old railway cycle route at back of campsite that runs for miles. pool looks good but not open yet.
This is a really great site. Near a lovely little town. Great walking near the site and around. Very good washrooms, heated in winter which we appreciated. Extremely helpful staff. We took the train to Valencia for the day. Approach is fairly steep but great views when you are pitched. Highly recommended.
Fabulous site just off the A23 ... the people in the caravan opposite me had been coming here from UK for over 20 years! Steep road up to Motorhome / van parking but I’ve experienced much worse in the UK. A beautiful area to explore with plenty of walks. The restaurant on site was excellent and the reception staff were extremely helpful and friendly.
A steeply terraced site with excellent views of the surrounding countryside and easy access from the A23 Autovia. Very helpful staff and a pleasant restaurant on site. Good for walking and cycling along an old railway track. Very busy at the weekend but all was quiet well before midnight. The fruit from the trees are a nuisance sticking to everything. The local village has a number of shops, bars and restaurants and there is a reasonably stocked shop on site.
Extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff in reception, who seem to switch effortlessly between various languages. Toilet blocks are heated which is a boon in winter. Interesting village nearby with old fashioned shops and a market once a week. Spectacular waterfall nearby, and very attractive countryside for cycling and walking - not just the Via Verde but also the local lanes. However, the pitches can be difficult to get into and we found that in a cold wind, 6A was just not enough to keep us warm. Also, the cassette toilet emptying point is a long walk from the tourist pitches.
Best campsite we've stayed in during our 2 months in Spain. Staff in reception were extremely helpful and encouraging of our (limited) Spanish language skills. Toilets and showers very clean, loads of hot water. Plenty of walking & cycling in the area. Local shopkeepers very welcoming and friendly.
