In the heart of the Jämtlandsfjällen, near the village of Gäddede, you will find the camping site by the same name, Gäddede Camping och Stugby. This camping site caters mainly for guests visiting this Swedish region for its the largely pristine natural beauty. The camping site lies directly on the water and not far from the village centre. As the shops of the village are within walking distance, you will want for nothing. Gäddede lies on the so-called Vildmarksvägen (wilderness road), which runs through an astonishingly beautiful landscape.
Typical Swedish camping site
The camping site is a typical Swedish camping site with fairly spacious pitches, but little shade. The different fields are separated from each other by low hedges. The last two fields are intended for tents. Just like virtually every Swedish camping site, Gäddede Camping och Stugby has quite a number of simple trekker huts and some fully equipped holiday cottages, which are sufficiently warm in winter as well.
Dining with a view
The reception is the heart of the camping site, where you can obtain all information about the whole region, such as tips for walking trips in the mountains. There is also a small, but attractive restaurant where you can dine with a view of the lake.
Active in the vicinity
The waters around the Gäddede camping site abound with fish. At the reception they will assist you to find your best beat. One can fish for trout and salmonidae (röding in Swedish) which can grow very big here. You can make a beautiful canoeing trip from Gäddede back to Strömsund via the watery area of Ströms Vattudal..
