Where will you sleep?

Camping Jungfrau is a large, well maintained terraced campsite with mainly spacious pitches, which are not demarcated everywhere. This means that in high season the pitches may gradually become more compact. There is much greenery and well maintained grass. There are pitches with and without shade, also depending on the position of the sun behind the mountains. The sanitary facilities are very clean and tidy. They also have family bathrooms. You have not brought your own tent or caravan? You can rent all types of accommodation: mobile homes, trekker huts, rooms, studios and bungalows.

Action!

Your fellow campers are sporty and active people who like adventure. Therefore, the campsite management organises a lot of activities and excursions.  You can book guided walking tours and there are several cycling routes. At 100 m from the campsite is a river. So you can start canoeing and kayaking straight away. The campsite forms a good base to visit the Jungfraujoch (please remember that trains and cable cars are costly).

Cooking or the Chef?

The supermarket sells fresh bread and has quite a large assortment of groceries, thus cooking your own meals should not be a problem. However, the restaurant is a serious contender. The amiable atmosphere, comprehensive menu and lovely terrace complete the picture. Not to forget the sociable bar, self service restaurant, snack bar and pizzeria.

Camping Jungfrau lies at the heart of the beautiful Lauterbrunnen valley, nestling in between
cliffs that reach for the sky. It’s located in a picturesque hollow off the road to Stechelberg, just
outside the town of Lauterbrunnen. It’s an easy ten-minute walk from the railway station. You
almost miss all of the traditional hotels and cozy cafés because your eyes travel up, where the
sky should be. Instead, flanked by the cliffs that impose upon the valley, the white-capped Eiger
dominates your view. On your way, you walk past the famed Staubbach Falls, where a stream
falls 297 meters down in a spectacular frenzy of droplets. In sunlight, they burst into a rainbow
of colour. In the midst of all this serenity lies Camping Jungfrau. The canvas canopy, which
protects the main square, keeps the happy crowd of campers dry in any weather and leads you
straight to the Reception, where two members of staff ensure smooth check-in for all. As well
as sharing information about the camping site, Reception team will be happy to book a wide
selection of experiences for your family, often at substantially discounted prices. A senior
member of staff will always welcome you in person, lead you to your accommodation and
answer any questions you might have about your stay. And believe me when I say that they’re
ready for you. Do you wish to dry your damp waterproofs or boots? The heated dry room is
right behind the on-site launderette. Are there any pots and pans? The kitchen is fully equipped,
from large pans to dessert spoons. Will there be a queue for showers? I have never seen any.
Nor did I ever need to wait for the toilet, which is located in the main sanitary building opposite
Reception. At night, discreet yet effective light lets you pop over there in confidence. You won’t
even need a torch. You’re going to need the famed Alpine milk for your muesli? The shop is
located behind the Reception and is open between 8.00 – 12.00 a.m. every day. They provide
a selection of freshly-baked bread, rolls, even croissants. There’s plenty of local produce, from
locally-made fruit preserves to ham to Swiss cheese, to yoghurt, fruit and vegetables. Did you
leave your shampoo behind? They offer a full selection of toiletries.Camping Jungfrau lies at the heart of the Lauterbrunnen valley. From here, convenient
connections can be made to all Switzerland has to offer. Whether you wish to see the mighty
Schilthorn, step on air in Birg, hike around the forests of Mürren, see your children play on the
playground in Gimmelwald, overlooked by Eiger, or head out in the opposite direction towards
Wengen, Männlichen, Interlaken, or even Grindelwald, Camping Jungfrau is the perfect base.
The staff at the Reception are expert at recommending day trips, outings, or experiences to
make your heart beat faster, such as team paragliding, helicopter flights around the snowy trio:
Eiger, Mönch, and maiden Jungfrau, hot-air balloon escapades, the James Bond experience of
Piz Gloria, or a barbecue with a view across the valley. Perhaps you’d like fatbiking? You’ll
cover the large distances easily, making it along the valley to the Stechelberg cable car in no
time. Have you heard of Trümmelbach Falls? A series of fascinating underground waterfalls
tear through the nearby mountains with the deafening roar, a force to reckon with. Visitors end
up soaked through, their happy laughter and shrieks of surprise reverberating along the
corridors washed out by the sheer force of the current.

die Geruchsemissionen vom nahe gelegenen Bauernhof sind sehr störend und verderben ein wenig die Ferienstimmung.
